1969 Chevy Chevelle SS owned by my good friend Susie. When I took on the project of shooting the classic car calendar for KZOK, I knew I wanted to try and get Susie's Chevelle in it. Luckily, one of the people never called back for a shoot (pretty silly as 1000 cars entered and only 12 are picked) so the Chevelle got it's spot. I really wanted to make this a special shot, so I borrowed and automotive rig from my homie Nick Parker. www.automotiverigs.com It took me 3 hours to take 10 shots. I am lucky my camera is still in one piece.
The biggest issue I ran into was cloning the rig out of the shot. I struggled with this for several hours, and could not figure out how to do it. I was lucky enough to find a guy in the Photoshop Support Group that was willing to help me. I sent him the file, and he did his magic. I am in serious debt to him for his help. Thanks Tom!!! You can see the original RAW file below.

A prayer wheel is a cylindrical "wheel" on a spindle made from metal, wood, stone, leather or coarse cotton. Traditionally, the mantra Om Mani Padme Hum is written in Sanskrit on the outside of the wheel. Also sometimes depicted are Dakinis, Protectors and very often the 8 auspicious symbols Ashtamangala. According to the Tibetan Buddhist tradition based on the lineage texts regarding prayer wheels, spinning such a wheel will have much the same meritorious effect as orally reciting the prayers.

Allegany State Park-1
Took a trip to Allegany with my daughter Kate. The snow, light and color made for some special shots.
The absence of light can be just as interesting as its presence. Here, I was playing with a dark corner of Upper Antelope Canyon, which was only partially lit from the sun above this amazing place. The rock formation, with beautiful, almost sensual curves accented by the magnificent shadows... it was as if it spoke to me. I knew this would be a special shot, even out of a series of many beautiful shots. This shot is unique within a place that is unique in its own right.

Taken the same morning as the previous two posts. Light was amazing while it lasted.
I love the colour of this one under that wonderful golden light, but am unsure of the composition. I wanted to include the cast shadow of the bench, but wanted the scene simplified with only minimal elements, hence the square crop removing destractions from the sides. That said, the bench's view ends up being cut short. All in all I am still very happy with this one and chose it as the image to represent the shots I took where the light was at my back
No golden light this morning, just grey and dismal, but I guess that makes mornings like the one pictured even more special.
Shot at f11 on Nikkor 28mm f3.5 manual focus lens.

This is taken down on Whitstable beach at low tide.
I was out having a nice sunny day walk with my Family with the camera in hand.
I was taken pictures of my boys throwing stones into the water and noticed this young lad with his net. No clouds was in sight and the windmills stood out really well, I did had to walk into the water abit with my trainers on to get my shot but that's normal for me.
Your surroundings may be boring but stop and look beyond and you will see that special shot.

Sennyuji is one of those temples in Kyoto that I've had a longing to shoot a car at for years. There's so much space and grandeur to the temple that I knew it would suit something cinematic like this.
We often only find out at the last minute what colour car we're going to get for the shoots. This was the press car. And the colour suited perfectly.
This was shot in February of 2021, when Kyoto was still super quiet because of the Covid pandemic. A unique opportunity to get some really special shots.
I have been wanting to revisit this 9 image panorama of the Milky Way for some time now. Today I got the chance, This was taken at the Pinnacles Western Australia and is a really special shot for me as it seems I caught the very quick moment between night sky and sunrise but I still have the MIlky Way visible, I was even lucky enough to have a meteor pass through the sky on the night as well :) This was taken on a Nikon D610 + Nikon 14-24 @ 2.8, 9 Images stitched in PS :) hope you enjoy

These were not severe storms. In fact it was about 100F and humid. Normal for us here this time of year. We were right on the edge of a passing front. Day 3 of 3 for storms in south central Nebraska.
These small spurts of cells were trying to form, and one did eventually, but wasn't able to catch up or get into position to get that special shot. There were a few good captures from this day but not many.

I love bridges of all types (I guess that is because of the engineer in me). This is a quick snap taken with my old PnS (one of 2 on my stream, it is a little noisier than my usual work) while I was driving. It is so rare to cross a bigger bridge on the interstate all alone, I consider this a pretty special shot for that reason. This is one of the more unique large cable stayed bridges that I have seen, kind of a steel arch/cable stayed combo.

Did you hear the one about...? These female Cowbirds appeared to be socializing for just a moment on a fence post near Lake Barkley Lodge in Kentucky. (Photographed with a Canon 300mm f2.8 L IS and 1.4x.)
The Pinnacles Milky Way sunrise.
Took Saturday morning between 330am and 5am with fellow Perth photographer at the Pinnacles.
It was a windy and cold morning, but well worth it with what we managed to leave with!
This is the first time I've not only managed to capture the milky way with Venus in it, but also to get a bit of colour from the break of dawn. Very special shot to me as the whole night was just magnificent to experience all the elements changing from a moon lit foreground, to pitch black darkness once the moon had set, to very very strong winds, but topped it off with sunrise and the milky way in the same shot!

This is another shot of the golden temple in Kyoto. It's not a special shot because next to me there were another at least 20 people taking pictures of the same motive. And I was there only about 10 minutes.
I think the only special thing about this picture is the gardener :-)
I tried a HDR here. It's not 100% sharp, that's why I won't attach the large file today (took three exposures without a tripod) Usually I am not a big fan of HDR pictures, but here I liked the colour effect of the oversaturrated greens.
I have been to this location several times and captured some special shots. My goal was to capture something different this time. Capturing something different requires fresh eyes and spontaneity.

...Canon F1
For once, I leave the familiar path of my photography. I would like to share this picture with you in a personal story that happened to me a long time ago. It was in 1991, when I traveled with the motorbike to Egypt to experience the Middle East close up. I was young, easygoing and adventurous. It was the year when the first Gulf War took place, just when I arrived in Egypt. First I drove from Alexandria to Cairo and from there into the Libyan desert. She was gorgeous and fascinated me, like nothing before. But in the first oasis, where I wanted to stay a few days, it happened. I was stolen by a tourist guide my entire camera equipment. This was a terrible event for me because I trusted this guide and I could not document my journey from this time on. When I returned to Cairo a few weeks later, I decided with my remaining money to buy another camera. Only, a new camera I could never afford. So what to do? I prayed to God for help. (I really did). There was not one hour, when I passed a shop window, where I could not believe my eyes. There was an old Canon camera for sale. I was amazed that she was offered for purchase in a normal coffee shop.(Probably she was also stolen from someone). But that was my last hope to get a camera at a price I could pay. It was written with 400 DM (German Mark !!!) and I could still lower it to 300 DM.
Since 1991, I am the proud owner of my first and real professional camera and I regretted the purchase of this piece of jewelry not a single day, because the camera made excellent pictures and it still works today! This fully mechanical analog camera can be operated even without a battery, which can not be said of today's modern digital cameras. (The F1 was the first professional Canon Camera and is now 47 years old.)
Somehow wistfully, I look back at these analogue times, because the photographing was still really a very different thing than today. I miss the mechanical and original element, but I do not want to do without the digital technology. So there are two hearts in my chest.
I hope you had some joy in my story and my picture here.
Kind regards
Erwin
P.S: I would like to thank my wife for her help by preparing the arrangement for this special shot.
