Today (12/12) would have been Sinatra’s 108th birthday. I remember hearing some of his hits when I was a kid. My favorite was “High Hopes” that my dad had on a record. However, I didn’t really appreciate his artistry until I bought the album “In the Wee Small Hours” when I was in my mid-20s. After that, I added more of his “Concept” albums and I was hooked. Because I was interested in hearing more music from that time, it opened the door to artists like Miles Davis, Tony Bennett, Coltrane, etc. Really, the list doesn’t end because there are so many great albums yet to explore from that era. Anyway, thank you Frank for leaving a music legacy that entertains, comforts, saddens, and makes my heart and emotions come alive.
I was editing this pic for my website today and noticed Francis Albert Sinatra & Antônio Carlos Jobim playing in the background. We listen to this one a lot around here. I think it’s Iwona’s favorite of those she has heard.
