Sporting Group: "Placid, affectionate, even-tempered, true-blue, loyal," all are words used to describe the Sussex Spaniel, a slow-but-steady hunter, and congenial housedog. His frowning expression is delightfully at odds with a typically cheerful nature.
I am still drawing, although probably a bit less in summer than in winter. He's one I started a little while ago and finished recently.
Went to Basingstoke shopping for KP's imminent 16th Birthday. These days she comes shopping with us and chooses what she wants. We oldies have no fashion sense, she doesn't tell us this but the look on her face when you point to an item of clothing, says it for her ...
In the shopping centre we saw this six month old Springer Spaniel. She will soon start training to be a Police sniffer dog ...

So this photo was a quick capture on my old iPhone whilst playing in the garden. Just proving the old adage that the best phone is the one you have with you!
My working Springer Spaniel amongst the fallen the leaves. We had just descended from The Great ridge, which is in Derbyshire. The sun was out but it was still freezing cold:-)
Meg our 14 year old English springer spaniel is very wobbly on her legs now as well as being quite blind & deaf. She can't really manage walks in the fields any more & sleeps a lot of the time. This last time we went up the fields she was a complete liability, running off chasing pheasant scents & she couldn't hear me calling her to come back or see where she was going. Poppy the black one runs after her & brings her back in a circle, I shout "fetch Meg" & she acts as her guide dog! Happy World Animal Day, not that our 3 need a special day!
A dignified and mellow hunting companion of kings, the Clumber Spaniel is the largest of the AKC flushing spaniels. For those who can handle some shedding and drooling, the amiable Clumber is an amusing best friend and a gentlemanly housemate. Clumber Spaniels are powerful bird dogs of heavy bone, built long and low, with a massive head.
This is her typical look basically saying "I did not empty the bin all over the kitchen floor, and I do therefore deserve a biscuit!"
About the Breed
The merry and frolicsome Cocker Spaniel, with his big, dreamy eyes and impish personality, is one of the world's best-loved breeds. They were developed as hunting dogs, but Cockers gained their wide popularity as all-around companions. Those big, dark eyes; that sweet expression; those long, lush ears that practically demand to be touched'no wonder the Cocker spent years as America's most popular breed. The Cocker is the AKC's smallest sporting spaniel, standing about 14 to 15 inches. The coat comes in enough colors and patterns to please any taste. They are big enough to be sporty, but compact enough to be portable. A Cocker in full coat rewards extra grooming time by being the prettiest dog on the block. These energetic sporting dogs love playtime and brisk walks.
