This lovely spaniel is not of course a King Charles Spaniel but I was struck by his regal pose and the way his lovely ears hang down and I was reminded of various portraits of King Charles II of England. (I hope it isn't a crime to compare a past monarch to a lovely dog!) I think Charlie here is a Field Spaniel and yes I think he is 'king' of all the spaniels I have ever had the pleasure to meet.
The frisky and curious Tibetan Spaniel was bred ages ago for sentinel work on the walls of Tibetan monasteries. Known for a flat, silky coat and 'lion's mane' around the neck, the Tibetan Spaniel forms a tight, worshipful bond with their humans.
He kept getting in the way of photographs today, so I felt he deserved his own photo :)

Oh that Brittany nose. Freckled and always working. Birds in the park, dirty laundry, food, the smell under the bathroom door, and any scents that I happened to bring home from work on my shoes. Plus many more that I will never know about. Just one of the things that we love about her.
