i think I much prefer this version of this particular crappy photo. One of these days I should challenge myself to a sooc challenge...one of these days when I have the skill to get a good shot on the first shot, or the time to **** around for hours til I get a good shot. Meh, this has the same feel I was going for anyway..

Part of the B&W SOOC challenge series. Read up on it here:

The Danish word Hygge (hu-gah) is a feeling or mood that comes from taking genuine pleasure in making ordinary everyday things simply extraordinary

My husband taught me a while back the "High Pass" filter, but have not used it much, because it is not very complimentary for portraits. However, it works marvelous with regular subject photography :)

This photograph is edited with "High-Pass-Vivid @ 75%.

For the SOOC challenge, thanks for playing on my day. Gulp, this was harder than I thought.

For PK's SOOC Challenge #6 (as sample).

I've been tagged.

Serves me right for getting ready for bed, sticking in my headphones to enjoy online broadcasts with my laptop on my chest AND staying logged in to Flickr.

The lovely and talented Bellagaia tagged me in one of those SOOC challenges. Sadly, I chose to open her photo and discover the challenge in the middle of the night when I was less presentable.

(I hope to God, I'm able to passing on the suffering....)

Tag! your it!

The rules:

Alright my lovelies. You have 5 minutes from the time you see this tag, to take a photo of yourselves. NO staging, NO primping... just you and your lovely self. As is. Upload your photo and tag some peeps.

I'm tagging:

The cloudless mornings continue,

I can't help but stare into the heavens - they soothe my soul :)

If my SOOC challenge wasn't hard enough, I've been given another worthy one to go with it - match a bible verse with every photo! (Thanks to you know who ;))

So here's my verse I coincidently read this week:

“My soul waits for the Lord

More than those who watch for the morning-

Yes, more than those who watch for the morning.”

Psalm 130:7

Off to Abu Dhabi now see you all next week!

At 08:00 this morning there was a thunderstorm of Biblical proportions, but still these amazing people joined me for my first Street Photography Workshop exploring the streets of Salmiya, Kuwait - and they were rewarded by sunshine all the way! More to follow in the coming days, but in the meantime I'll be posting images from today on my Facebook and Instagram pages.

This week's SOOC challenge is "Up". I took this photo down-town Tempe - American Flag reflecting into a window :) Not sure how I will further format it, but I already have some thoughts on this!

sooc challenge "half"

The view of El Capitan from the bus. Beautiful low clouds.

(For PK SOOC Challenge ~ Clouds)

this is part of the canon s5is weekend challenge Straight Out Of Camera "sheer lunacy"

i have processed the original

it has a small crop, slight adjustments to levels & some colour shift. and USM @ 100%

it has also been run thru Neat Image to clean up some noise

i had trouble trying to clear noise but i think it was actually fine cloud cover as its later come over with heavy cloud.

The original was taken on 4xdigital zoom as its a SOOC challenge and no processing allowed or additional telefoto lens

This is the edited version of the SOOC challenge for today.

It's he the cutest?

These two titmouse shots are straight out of the camera, no editing at all, not even my usual initials. One group I am in is having a SOOC challenge, nothing can be done to the shots, including cropping (I always crop! hey, the pros do it!). So here you are, what you see is what you get! :)

Note: I agree that the mark of a good photographer is shots that are darn good sooc. And that takes extra care while taking the shot to check all aspects of the shot. On the other hand, in today's digital world, those of us who like to dabble artistically, messing around a bit with a photo is fun, and often results in something a bit better (tho, from experience, not always)

I pledge Allegiance to the flag

of the United States of America

and to the Republic for which it stands,

one nation under God, indivisible,

with Liberty and Justice for all.

American Flag Guidelines for Displaying the Flag

1. The flag of the United States should be flown daily from sunrise to

sunset in good weather from public buildings, schools, permanent

staffs, and in or near polling places on election days. The flag

may be displayed 24 hours a day on patriotic holidays or if properly

illuminated.

2. The flag should not be displayed on days when the weather is bad,

except when an all-weather flag is used.

3. The flag should always be flown on national and state holidays and

on those occasions proclaimed by the President. On Memorial Day,

the flag should be half staffed until noon.

4. The flag should be hoisted briskly and lowered ceremoniously. It

should never be dipped to any person nor should it ever be displayed

with the union down, except as a signal of dire distress.

5. The flag should never touch anything beneath it, nor should it ever

be carried flat or horizontally.

6. It should never be used as wearing apparel, bedding, drapery, or

decoration, nor for carrying or holding anything.

7. The flag should never be fastened, displayed, used, or stored

in such a manner as to be easily torn, soiled, or damaged. It should

never be used as a covering for a ceiling.

8. The flag should not be draped over the hood, top, sides, or back of

a vehicle. When a flag is displayed on a car, the flag's staff

should be fixed firmly to the chassis or clamped to the right

fender.

9. The flag or its staff should never be used for advertising purposes

in any manner whatsoever. Nor should any picture, drawing, insignia

or other decoration be placed on or attached to the flag, its staff,

or halyard.

10. The flag should not be embroidered on cushions, handkerchiefs, or

other personal items nor printed on anything designed for temporary

use and discarded. However, a flag patch may be affixed to the

uniform of military personnel, firemen, policemen, or members of

other patriotic organizations.

11. When the flag is so worn or soiled that it is no longer suitable

for display, it should be destroyed in a dignified manner,

preferably by burning.

Howdy! He greeted us at the Oxnard Strawberry Festival in May last year. By the way, that's a Penny-farthing bike, not that you care to know.

Ok I need some advice on this one. I want the central top flower in focus and straight on. So I can't move much up or down (to get rid of that lower flower chopped off). What do people do with this situation? Prune? Not sure my neighbor would approve ;-)

Are these narcissus or daffodils? I didn't notice a strong odor.
