The grief, the sorrow and the heartbreak of seeing your sons leaving their childhood home everytime, and only being able to see them two weeks every year; but keeping a straight face, staying 'strong' for everyone. On the other side, the same heartbreak on leaving your parents everytime. All this until one day, when they are gone, and all that's left is an empty home and the memories. My mum passed away, 18 months after this photo was taken in 2014, and dad a few weeks ago.
Of all the things, leaving them behind, to build a new life for myself hits me the hardest. We all understood why we (me and my brother) left the country and there wasn't much of a choice. My both parents were proud of our achievements and our new life abroad. But to us, as a family, only being able to see each other for a few weeks every year was heart wrenching, and they did not deserve any of this, and neither did I.
This is a heartbreak I will carry with me for the rest of my life, it might get easier in time, but I will never go away...
My Son is Two Month Old Today 22nd of October 2007. I shoot his picture just half an hour after I came back from work. It was taken outside my house with natural light.

No son làgrimas.
El llanto de los muros serìa una personificaciòn aceptable. Ellos tendrìan sobradas razones para hacerlo, pero no. Son las grietas llenando el primer piso de pequeñas lagunas, multiplicando las luces.
En ese cuadro me encuentro sin ingenuidad mirando cada señal, buscando los mensajes en las paredes, como un reportero de guerra, incauto, febril, detras de la historia.

This is my son Joey, and for those that have known me for any time...can you believe that Joey is now a senior (what!)? This is one of his senior portrait casual shots that I took of him this weekend. I think back and wonder where has the time gone? I remember joining Flickr when he was just about a year old, and he has gone on many photography outings with me and a few of you over those years. We've had plenty of "dinner and a sunset show" nights up at Shenandoah National Park. Gone to WDW a good handful of times and taken a Dad and Son trip out west.. wow, the time flies.
I am very proud of him and I love him VERY much. I am not a perfect person, but I try my darndest to be a great Dad for him, and no matter what path he travels in life he will always know I am there for him.

This photo was taken at a Steinway Piano dealership in the suburbs of Chicago. My son takes violin lessons, and twice a year, all of his instructor's students put on a recital to demonstrate what they've learned from their teacher. The recital is held at the Steinway dealership. This is him playing around with one of the pianos prior to his performance.

A very proud moment for me to walk my son into his Wedding. We have both transitioned full time to our preferred gender. Me to female and my son from female to male.
The smile says it all !! A very happy Mum with her very happy son. So so proud of him, and his partner Lex who has also transitioned from female to male too. Happy Days !!! P xxx

I created this diptych to show residents of a retirement community, later today. Stacks, the calf, is the son of Code, the big guy.
When Stacks was first born, maybe six weeks ago, they kept him sequestered with his mother so the two could bond. Since then, I've always seen him hanging out with his father.
Kids have minds of their own!
