My first time knitting, ever. Many mistakes, but I have enjoyed it very much.

A casual visit to the Jabel Jais mountain in Ras Al Khaimah

My wonderful family bought me all these CDs to add to my collection for my birthday.

I think these are plum blossoms almost ready to bloom! Shot them outside a restaurant today where I met Ken for lunch, on the way to a Drs appointment. I'm off the hook for wrist stress fracture and bad knee for now! :)

My first time growing sprouts.

Coucou maman...tu vois ce que je fais lorsque tu es au bureau!

MacroMondays: Something New

This just happened to be the only new thing I got this week, a present from work.

It was time for something new... after 10 years ;-) www.flickr.com/photos/keepthebyte/3204450809/

- this page is a hCard and my OpenID

- the design and text ideas are inspired by factoryjoe.com/

- I had to choose Helvetica as a font as I basically just live nearby the guys that designed it (Münchenstein that is)

- the colors are from a swiss military palette (it's a bit dark.. might go for something more fresh in spring :-)

For five years in a row, we did choucroute. Then a year of cassoulet. This year, I wasn't feeling either one.

we are trying to "GoPro" camera on Cody's helmet today..he is excited..

I'm looking at my new pdf pattern on my new toy! The SweetPod sleep pod pattern is officially for sale.

Extract from accompanying essay:

“...Something old (alchemy), something new (my work), something borrowed (the style of my artists) and something blue...Within my work there have been a series of blue morpho butterflies. This image was not simply chosen because it was effeminate; they represent the fact that one day, we are going to die. This constant knowledge, is the reason why we are impatient (much like the work of Georges Mathieu), to wish our lives away.

My work, from my own research, is based on a wedding planners sketch book, and is meant to have a sense of naivety. The Alchemical idea of turning lead into gold, links to that idyllic picture and social gratification that the concept of marriage resonates.

My final piece shall be the creation of a wedding dress. When considering how to showcase my work, I was inspired by Su Blackwell's piece ‘While you were sleeping’. I would like to show a weightless and spectral aura in my piece; as it were suspended in time. The dress shall be made from a series of uniform panels; symbolising the uniformity of tradition.

...Many people after this life believe that they are entering a new one, either with their God or by coming back to Earth as someone else. This dress is meant to represent whole heartedly entering a new life with someone else; taking all our baggage, even the bits they can’t see from face value.

...My aim is not to provide an answer for this brief; I believe as artists we are to provoke the questions. What I hope to achieve through this project is a sensitively considered address of the progression in themes, techniques and ideas I have used throughout this Unit. I hope to offer the audience an insight to my own experiences and personal take on life, death and the possibilities of immortality...”

My friend Amanda and I are going to try and make Zuccini bread- I am not a great baker so we will see how it works. I will put up pictures after we are done!

My uncle let his granddaughter take a turn at driving the tractor...I love her little shoe next to his old workboot.

Decided to try something completely different this time. Love this effect!

Messing around with pp techniques I've not tried before for a group assignment. Needs work, but I've learned it's not so scary!

Something old, something new, something blue

An assortment of P&W power sits at the engine terminal in Worcester in the quickly fading light, as is the curse of any photography at this time of year. Left to right, B40-8 4001 and GP38-2s 2008 and 2010, still sporting the pre-G&W brown and red.

I'm reknitting the Estonian-style mittens that I knit a couple years ago, with the hopes of writing up a pattern for them. People loved them at Rhinebeck. I've learned how to do a tubular cast-on since the first pair I knit, so that's what these will have.
