I am experimenting with some photos I took today by adding textures. It's early days but I'm enjoying it.

I was walking from Lake Marmo to Sterling Pond at the Morton Arboretum on May 16, 2011, when I heard a loud, startling squawk behind me, followed by an agitated, rapid call that was much more high-pitched. I turned and saw two shapes: a smaller bird chasing a larger bird among the medium-level branches. Based on the sound, I first thought it was a great blue heron being chased by something (but I wondered why a heron would be flying low through the woods). Then I realized the bigger bird's wings were brown, so I thought perhaps a Cooper's hawk or sharp-shinned hawk was chasing a great horned owl. It turns out that I was a bit closer on my second guess.
When I came out on the other side of the trees, I saw what I believe was an adult Cooper's hawk sitting in the pine trees, while what appeared to be a red-tailed hawk (RTH) was flying away from it to land in another tree. I was confused, though, because this hawk was much lighter colored than all the other RTHs I've ever seen. I thought maybe it was a red-shouldered hawk or even a harrier, but the more I looked at it, the more I believed I was right about it being a RTH. I need to start bringing my bird guide with me when I hike. When I got home, I confirmed that it's a lighter-colored subspecies of red-tailed hawk, and also a juvenile, since the tail feathers are striped instead of rust colored.
If anyone has another idea about this bird's ID, I'd welcome being corrected! In any case, I had fun as the larger hawk circled my head a few times, even looking down at me. I had a prey's-eye view of a very efficient predator, and I have to admit it was a little unnerving. But it was amazing too. More pics to come! For now, enjoy the ones below.
how funny is it that, the other night, at literally 4 am, i returned a movie to blockbuster (via the little window drop thingie) and SAW this hanging inside... i actually saw the plain white back of the poster but could tell what the reverse was
i assumed it was just being used to advertise the dvd
but, no, apparently blockbuster is selling them.
this means i have to go to blockbuster asap and buy this to add to my official collection of mental insanity
but... i'm too embarrassed to actually pay for this in a store.
hmph... what to do....
oh, and is it me or does it look like his head is pasted on someone else's body?
it's not even a good poster... but i'll have to have it anyway.
The little American Tree sparrow is now known to be more closely related to the Fox Sparrow....will it be "Spizelloides"?
Para representar o 'Something new' (algo novo), escolhi um dos últimos esmaltes que comprei.
Minha cidade começou a vender Hits!!
Obs: Cotoquei as unhas, notaram? hauhauauhua
I was walking to a Seattle park yesterday when I came across this abandoned teddy bear sitting on a curb. I'm sure a child is heartbroken over losing him... and I bet he was cold last night. As an aside, I don't normally do this kind of photography but it felt good to try something new!
The clothes shop Bendorff Donna on Venestraat 45 in The Hague (NL), one of my favourite shops. This time I saw a quote of Juliette Lewis on the shopwindow (in Dutch): "Instead of letting wash clothing, I buy simply something new".

Trying something new with my challenge group "52 Themes 2009". The third week challenge was to take a photograph fitting the theme "The rule of thirds" which is a basic rule of aesthetic property in art that if the subject of a picture is located in one third of the overall picture then it is far more pleasing to the eye than if it was placed in the centre of a space. It is more complicated than that, but I have tried to do something very different by filling about a third of the picture with the silver of the remote and the casing of the lap top and the black keys filling about two thirds.
I also managed to fit in the number 3!
Cámara nueva.
Puede que quizás llegue el momento de que dé el paso que todos los ámbitos de mi vida necesitan.

don't be afraid to stand up for what you believe in. hoping for change is sometimes simply not enough. never be afraid to do something new. remember, amateurs built the ark; professionals built the titanic.
Can I just say that I LOVE this. I may have to keep it for myself :)
I've been wanting to try doing some kind of felt "paintings" for a while, but never got around to it until this weekend (I promised some to Craftland, which I knew would finally motivate me). I have big plans for these, friends, big plans!
far, far far from any kind of finishing, i just thought it was kind of pleasant at this stage and worth showing.
"The corps members of AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps (NCCC) Team Green 1 have been dreaming of working in the outdoors with the Bureau of Land Management since before they came to California in October 2015."
The team started service projects in Salt Lake City, Utah before coming to work in California. 2016 project locations included:
-Homestake Trail in Redding
-Berryessa Snow Mountain National Monument
-Don Edwards San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge
-Bizz Johnson Trail in Susanville
-Fort Ord National Monument
-South Fork of the American River trails
-Bodie Foothills, Alabama Hills and Volcanic Tablelands in Bishop
"Although the team is full of experienced trail workers, backpacking with all of their tools, clothes, personal protective equipment, food, water and shelter for multiple days was something new to more than half of the team. The challenges that came with environmental work did not dissuade the members of Green 1 that they wanted to perform these projects."

It's a new iPhone app called "Percolator". Couldn't resist trying it out on one of our Cavaliers and brewing up a new look for him.
Enjoy!

I can't remember the last time I uploaded anything on here, it must have been summer!! I have been so swamped recently with uni work, it just never stops! :L
But, there's another reason I haven't been able to focus on my photography either, I've been really busy writing, and today's theme was books because I ACTUALLY PUBLISHED SOMETHING.
It has been my dream to publish a book for so long, and I actually got the guts to put it on Amazon Kindle, I'm so excited! :L
If you're interested, its a young adult novel, and I'd love it if you were ;) you can now download it from here in UK: www.amazon.co.uk/Hello-World-Joanna-Sellick-ebook/dp/B00H...
