This is one of my Lace-cap Hydrangeas (Meaning in Ancient Greek , "Wet/Moist Earth" -- Hydra =wet/moist, Gea = earth !!). And they love the moist atmosphere and earth! And only passing sun, prefering the shadowy spots. They love the acid soils, so, I add iron in their compost, in order to make them .....happier....and bluer!! But, .... don't you know, that plants are like us, with their likes and dislikes????
Hydrangea is their Botanical name, but in France, Belgium and Greece, they are called Hortansias.

The weather is really terrible here at the moment, rain, sleet, wind, and it has been for a week. I wonder when it will really be spring........
Some people think Wood Storks are ugly. They resent how they move into the rookery and usurp the tree islands, crowding out the Great Blues and Anhinga who had settled in prior to this pushy intrusion. And that noisy sex that goes on all the time, that clashing of bills drawing attention to what, I should think we would all agree, be done in private, or at least in the darkness of night. Well, I for one am deeply offended. Yet, when I look at this bird, I can’t help but seeing its inner beauty. Yes, I’m a closet Wood Stork lover. There should be help for folk like me, but to hell I say, I’m coming out of the closet and will embrace my affliction without shame! (And, let me just add, this is no laughing matter.) The ONE day that we had some icicles so far this winter. I hope everyone can see the ice drop :)

The mark of the mystery upon us is a cross. It is fitted on us as wings by which we may join the Dove in full flight. And when the cross is properly adjusted upon our shoulders, then suddenly, surprisingly, kenosis becomes prokope, self-emptying is the way to our deepest fulfillment, death becomes life, Incarnation is Ascension, Ascension is Pentecost, and human beings fall upward under the force of the Holy Spirit’s rising wing.

A day of various types of rain turned into an evening of the same and the only choice was to get wet, stand in the bogs (sorry, feet) and try to make light of the situation.....
Oh, to have been on Blencathra (seen beyond)!

PS Several people have informed me that this bird is actually trying to cool itself - which makes sense given the current weather.
