Her Maj the Queen was in the Nish (Huddersfield) yesterday. it was all a bit riddled with pomp so i went and took pictures of some drunk guys, kipping next to the ring road. i would've got closer but i couldn't be certain they actually were sleeping.

Ike casts its significant shadow over Duna, seen as we approach opposition, which is the closest we come to the planet every orbit. At this time though Ike doesn't also block its own shadow, making it easy to spot for even small telescopes
To think, only ten minutes beforehand I had debated whether to leave the clothes on the line, but a second glance at the north west said take those clothes in! I was in the garage when it hit, and what a place to be, with a tin roof. I felt under attack and waited till the biggest hailstones had stopped but still ran back inside with them falling. Inside the house wasn't much better, as the wind was so strong the hailstones were flying into the walls and windows horizontally - I don't recall anything like it before. See: Storm causes mayhem.
