An old one from a night when I got so absorbed making driftwood creations, the sudden appearance of a wonderful sunset totally surprised me. It was a quick dash to look for some foregrounds so I didn't waste the moment. I do love the mad dash to use good skies or special moments. I wish I was the sort of photographer who plans everything in detail and waits for the perfect moment, but that's not me :)) Solid Air is by John Martyn, and has a perfect chilled sound, which perhaps I need to find.

When I saw the report that the Leucistic Bald Eagle made an appearance in the morning I knew I had to take my chances at this super rare raptor. I left at 4a.m. and drove two hours South. I had to wait for the sun to rise, but found him immediately crunching bones from a fish he was holding down on the mudflats. Shortly after he perched just above us next to the walking trail. Still no light but extremely close. He was very calm as he did not flinch when a jogger came by. He flew to this Eucalyptus several times and perched calmly for several minutes. The light was starting to filter through the leaves in the background as this majestic beauty posed for us. It was a very awe inspiring experience I will never forget. We had a solid two hours to photograph him that morning. He eventually flew off into the distance and we were admiring and reflecting on this one of a kind beauty.

This looks like all solid land but it is actually a bog. It is so thick that I can walk on it without falling through. You can feel the squishy nature of it though. :D

I hope everyone enjoys this image! :D

In the face of an inquisitive photographer. Three Black-bellied Whistling-Ducks (Dendrocygna autumnalis) on the verge of Double Lake, the neighborhood retention pond, Sugar Land, Texas.

My homeland Northwest Germany is poor in mountains and rocks, so the only exception has been a very popular and even mystic place for centuries. We took advantage of the nice Summer weather to visit the Externsteine on Sunday.

The Externsteine belong to the Teutoburger Wald and are a natural outcropping of five sandstone pillars, the tallest of which is 37 mtr high and form a wall of several hundred metres in length, in a region that is otherwise largely devoid of rocks. The pillars have been modified and decorated by humans over the centuries. The place has been an important location for religion and spiritual activities throughout history. In warm evening light the beauty performs perfectly.

The exhibition initiatives at the Reggia di Venaria extend internationally with the proposal of new artistic languages and expressions by Anthony McCall, a British artist known for his solid-light installations.

His “light sculptures” consist of spectacular flat, curved, and conical light beams that define volumes. Like physical blades, they move through darkened spaces, directly engaging visitors in experiences that expand upon and surpass traditional artistic cinema performances.

The event-exhibition features some of the English artist's most significant installations.
