My favourite moments, waiting for a drenching, with enough light behind to promise some excitement ahead. Solid Air is by John Martyn.
The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) shipped solid rocket boosters from Thiokol Corporation in Corinne, Utah to the Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida.
The 12-foot-wide, 150-ton segments were shipped by rail for 30 years. A clamshell-like cover, hinged at the top, protected the hardware throughout the journey. Fully loaded, a single segment car weighs in at 513,000 pounds.
Union Pacific's Malad Local was shuffling cars on the Thiokol Spur in Corrine, Utah on Nov. 20, 1993.

It seems odd that this late winter day was approaching 15 years ago.
Here Soo 6039 & 6036 are leading X500 east after a crew change at Wyoming Yard. X500 was the single remaining CP trackage rights train operating across Michigan on CSX's Grand Rapids and Plymouth subdivisions. More often than not the power would be grungy CP GE's but every so often us Michigan railfans would be thrown a bone.
I had a wonderful night running around the beach between Nash Point and Cwm Nash, trying to use the great sky that was laughing at me. After a few reflections in the sand, I went back to my favourite rock features, they're so dynamic. Solid air is a favourite John Martyn track, an they do have that feel to them.
