Last night Johnny Dickerson and I spent a few hours at Lake Crabtree. He was teaching me how to photograph star trails. As always with Johnny, I learned a lot about this new photo technique. I also discovered I need a wide-angle lens if I want to photograph more star trails. I feel a big purchase coming on.... cha ching ! ! !
We had only a few hours before the cloud cover moved back in. Didn't catch any Perseids in this photo, but if it's clear this weekend, I might try this again and see what I can capture.
This photo is a compilation of about 122 photos taken over a span of 45 minutes.

On the Birmingham Canal Navigation (BCN)...Three intricate designs of 'Toll End' bridges that were made at the Horseley Iron Works near Toll End, Tipton in the Black country.
Windmill End Junction marks the junction of the Dudley No. 2 canal with the southern end of the Netherton Tunnel Branch canal.
The Blue Mist shrub is a great attractor of bees to my New Mexico Garden.
I shot this video with a Lumix DMC-FZ2500 from a stationary tripod on July 12, 2021. Most of the bee sequences have been slowed to one-half their natural rate.
Original score for flute and guitar: "Blue Mist and Bees," David Nelson Blair. To generate the track, I used Notion 6 sofware, which employs samples from the London Symphony Orchestra.
I tested the Panorama function of Lightroom 6. 9 horizontal images, tripod but no nodal point adapter. For a sloppy shooting the sofware did a pretty good job. there were only some stiching errors in the clouds where two images are combined.

I had processed a very similar image awhile back and decide to work up this one made a little wider angle. Initially this was a 3 image HDR,which the bottom half is, but the sofware program really made a mess of the sky,so I had to use just one exposure for the sky.
On this trail along you have nearly 270 degrees of shooting this canyon late in the afternoon. I'm standing on the feature known as the "Window",which is the beginnings of an arch directly under my feet.
I have that image of the window in this folder.

Built in the 1980's when the Port of Manchester on the Salford side of the Manchester ship canal was undergoing regeneration and becoming Salford Quays.
View over the garden to the post office tower and beyond from the 7th floor of the library.
The actual library building is the structure in the top right. it is clad with an intricate metal filigree design that is supposed to represent the canals, viaducts and tunnels that marked the industrial development of the city.
A very contentious building, but I personally love it!

A Heron was standing on the towpath looking for fish and took flight as we came past in the boat and flew right in front of the boat down the canal..
