Wie wƤr's mit einem Drink? WĆ¼rdest Du diesen Typen trauen?

Wilhelmine wanted to leave, finally out of her apartment ā slowly she had a huge yearning for her dear brother Robbie. New plans were made. Together with her neighbors, the grandmother and her granddaughter. The smart girl quickly had a great brainstorm: The police men sitting in the car were certainly very thirsty in their long-lasting and boring observation ā oh, the poor ;-) How about a prepared drink? Coke to stay awake? Of course, the police would not stay awake, because the drink would be mixed with sleeping pills ā and by the intense sugar-sweet taste they would not notice ... Thought and done ... Quickly to the supermarket, ice-cold Fritz-Kola (a herbal lemonade from Germany like Coca-Cola) was bought, the sleeping pills crushed, scattered in the bottles and closed again (so nobody gets suspicious ...). Now it was the grandmother's turn. She decorated the bottles in a basket with a checkered blanket and bottle opener, and made her way to the parked car. She greeted the two policemen in a friendly manner, regretting the two of them a little and admiring their perseverance. Then she put the bottles on the red engine cowling to open. The policemen were delighted, thanked decently ā and yippee ā toasted each other. It did not take long and they were snoring comfortably ;-) Wilhelmine quickly grabbed her packed things ā one last hearty hug ā and zoom! she was gone, hurrying down the street to the nearest underground station ... Where's the journey going? That remains a mystery for the moment ;-)

Wilhelmine wollte endlich aus ihrer Wohnung raus ā langsam hatte sie groĆe Sehnsucht nach ihrem Bruderherz Robbie. Neue PlƤne wurden gemacht. Zusammen mit ihren Nachbarn, der GroĆmutter und ihrer Enkelin. Das pfiffige MƤdchen hatte schnell einen Geistesblitz: Die Polizisten, die im Auto saĆen, waren von ihrer langwierigen und langweiligen Observation sicherlich sehr durstig ā oh, die Armen ;-) Wie wƤre es mit einem prƤparierten GetrƤnk? Cola, um wach zu bleiben? NatĆ¼rlich wĆ¼rden die Polizisten nicht wach bleiben, denn das GetrƤnk wƤre mit Schlaftabletten vermischt ā und durch den intensiven zuckersĆ¼Ćen Geschmack wĆ¼rden sie es nicht merken ... Gedacht und getan ... Schnell zum Supermarkt, eiskalte Fritz-Kola (eine KrƤuterlimonade aus Deutschland, wie Coca-Cola) gekauft, die Schlaftabletten zerkleinert, in die Flaschen gestreut und wieder verschlossen (damit keiner misstrauisch wird...). Jetzt war die GroĆmutter an der Reihe. Sie dekorierte die Flaschen in einem Korb mit karierter Decke und Flaschenƶffner und machte sich auf den Weg zum geparkten Auto. Sie begrĆ¼Ćte die beiden Polizisten freundlich, bedauerte die beiden ein wenig und bewunderte ihre Ausdauer. Dann stellte sie die Flaschen zum Ćffnen auf die rote Motorhaube. Die Polizisten waren entzĆ¼ckt, bedankten sich anstƤndig ā und jippie ā prosteten sich zu. Es dauerte nicht lange und sie schnarchten gemĆ¼tlich ;-) Wilhelmine schnappte schnell ihre gepackten Sachen ā eine letzte herzliche Umarmung ā und zusch! war sie weg, die StraĆe entlang eilend zur nƤchsten U-Bahnstation ... Wo die Reise hingeht? Das bleibt vorerst ein Geheimnis ;-)

This is one of the soft drink vending machines in Mikasa Park. The beverages of choice seemed to be unsweetened teas, fruit juice diluted with some water, and coffee drinks. There were many fewer of the sugar sweetened beverages found in American soft drink vending machines. There also seemed to be many less machines selling snacks in Japan than in the US as well.
The Rusk County Bottling Works, owned by the Culp family of Henderson, began on W. Main St. in 1905, producing syrups for soft drink companies. In 1917 they contracted with Coca-Cola. This Coca-Cola bottling facility was built in 1935 on N. Marshall St. I'm guessing it closed in the 1980s. My grandmother lived just a couple of houses down from the plant and I remember hearing the constant clinking of the bottles on the old chain lines when I was a child. A&L Music Co.Inc. occupied the building when this picture was taken. Henderson, Texas. 7.25.2012.

One of my goals for 2020 is to get better at the production aspect of photography. My comfort zone has always been "found photography"; go on a walk, see something interesting, shoot it. So the #FlickrFriday weekly challenges have been a great way to push myself to try new and different things.
This week's challenge is "Splash", so I wanted to capture the cool refreshing splash of a cold drink being poured on a hot summer day. I've slowly been working on putting together a make-shift "studio" for this sort of work, so I arranged a little shoot.
The hardest part was shooting while pouring, because I didn't have another person on hand to help, but using a wireless mouse and some remote tethering software I managed.
To be honest, I'm pretty happy with the final result, and I look forward to trying more shoots like this in the future.
Raspberry Iced Tea at Narai Thai Cuisine in Downey. DV and I had this. I had to ask for another straw because the end was sealed shut.
This is just the latest in a long line of attempts to capture the bubbles in a glass of lemonade...

My early beginnings of still life photography back in July 2006. Without any lighting equipment, this shot was taken using long exposure 2.5sec with my room's fluorescent light and camera mounted on tripod. Adjustment of curves and levels in PS were the final step.

The circa 1890 Thrasher Brothers Warehouse No. 1. with the 1920s Coca-Cola sign is located in the Micanopy Historic District listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is a contributing property.
A refreshing 'granizado' during the Cuban summer. Just ice with some sweet not-very-great softdrink.
