These were knit top down, using Holy Shaltz's shaped knee highs sock formula (customized to my measurements, gauge, etc) didn't account for negative ease though. If I pull them up they fit calves nicely.
My first pair of real socks! Got the yarn for my birthday (thanks, mom!). These will probably be 'round the house slipper socks, so I plan to put some puff paint dots on the soles. Not sure I am a sock person, but if I ever do socks again, I will definitely do toe up again. Love being able to try them on at every stage in the process.
You can see the tops differ a bit. I used long tail cast on on the right and knitted cast on on the left. Left wins.
This is another shot of the first socks I knit to wear. Sadly, yes, my legs really are that glowing fish-belly white.
Bits of solid and heathered Berroco Ultra Alpaca in wide and narrow stripes. They narrow significantly (by 3") from the cuff to the ankle, though the ribbing and stripes disguise it—no slouchy socks for me, please!

I also spent my christmas money on a pair of Doc Marten Mary Janes :)
I shall take better photos when we get some sodding daylight...

A present from mawelucky in Kansas. I am so taken with them, that I may not wear trousers to work tomorrow.
Well, I probably will -- it's getting chilly out this week. But now, I have spiffy wool socks to wear.
Blow, winds, and crack your cheeks! rage! blow!
You cataracts and hurricanoes, spout
Till you have drench’d our steeples, drown’d our socks!
My beloved Dalek slipper socks have a hole in the toe. Has anyone seen socks like these on sale anywhere? I'd love to get a replacement pair.
