The great thing about the beach is that it presents an entirely different universe from season to season, from day to day, from hour to hour, from second to second, with the ever changing wind, tides, clouds, and sun. A split second with tumbling surf and a sinking sun can make a vast different, resulting in entirely different photographs.
(Added to the group Macro Mondays for the theme: "Jimmy Buffet Lyrics")
I dont know jack about Jimmy. Like most other MM-ers, I googled him and he's sung about every possible trivial act/noun/verb catalogued by Man, so this was a pretty open ended theme, IMO. Good luck filtering, mods!
Jimmy Buffet (along with Cheeseburger in Paradise) inspired me to dig up a photo I took last week when I stopped by this quasi-swanky burger joint, "Umami Burgers" in LA. My buddy ordered the "SoCal Burger" with oven dried tomato, house made processed cheese, and caramelized onions.

Picture during a chairlift up of the conditions I was afforded yesterday. Was truly a phenomenal experience given that this was Southern California (1.5 hours away from T-Shirt weather and a *beach* with World-Class surf).

This pad-printed custom Lego minifies came out of nowhere from SoCal Customs. I love off-beat characters like this. This is from a Spider-man storyline where Spidey temporarily got the Captain Universe powers.

These are some good friends of mine that are just so representative of Southern California. Jake is a tattoo artist and killer mechanic, while Danielle is an awesome hair stylist and make up artisit. We have collaborated on a few shoots together and she does killer work. I wanted to take a photo of them that showed off who they truly are, and the background was perfect for this. I used just one light above and in front of them with a grid to help control the spill. Very simple photo to make, they loved it and it is now hanging on their wall at home, they got ordered on a huge canvas gallery wrap.

P.S. We also revamped the site as we will be focusing more on weddings and will be creating a new site for our commercial editorial work. I was BEYOND hesitant about adding music, but all the brides seem to LOVE it, so I gave in and added it...not sure how long it will last.....lol
Hard to get a sharp image through the branches. The tag suggests bird was a rescue; the nearby Ojai Raptor Center rehabilitates such and releases them if possible back into the wild. Rincon Beach, Cali

Gritting my teeth at the prospect that evening of a long red-eye flight back to grey London skies, I savoured this beach detour while heading north along the Pacific Coast Highway. In the distance, a clutch of dogs are enjoying the experience too.
