It is hard to believe that it is mid January - it was 75 degrees F after 5:00 PM at the beach when I took this shot.
One of my first herps on my California road trip last year was a horned lizard “found” in San Diego. I put found in quotation marks because this lizard sort of found me lol. I was hiking a trail and stopped for a drink of water, and during my break this guy came running up to my shoe and just stopped there for me to start photographing! It was a really bizarre, but exciting occurrence.

Snowless mountains, a dry creek-bed(usually is only filled up when it's raining) and bare trees set the stage here. As four BNSF Dash 9's roar out of the super narrow Lone Pine Canyon and into the open at Blue Cut as the OOCL and CMA-CGM intermodal train continue to grind uphill on their journey east on the Cajon Subdivision.

After a week of relentless stormy weather with drenching rain in the basin and heavy snow in high elevation thanks to the "atmospheric river" phenomenon, SoCal mountains turned into Winter lands.
