This shot was taken 2 nights ago when we went to Crystal Cove to shoot a sunset. Steve, Michael, and I were packing up to go, when we decided to get a little lighting and long exposure work in. We brought out the only two flashes we had on us that night, and Mike's gary fong thingamajig. I ALWAYS carry a lightstand and umbrella with me, but it was so windy we could not use the umbrella.
We kept trying differnt variations of the shot, and the ambient was changin so fast we had to keep adjusting. We used the car lights to add color and help light up the street. It was a ton of fun, then the Sherrif came by and kicked us out, but we had the shot!
I would also like to take the time to publicly thank Michael first of all for his friendship, support, and willingness to drive all the time...LOL. Thanks homie!
Enjoy,
Hector

Been a long while since I've posted anything here. Happy to be home for awhile and enjoying a sunset at one of my favorite spots. La Jolla, CA
Well here is my token, quintessential medium format film shooters CAR photo. You know.. its a right of passage to shoot down low from the bumper corner and throw in some bokeh.
The evening had a golden sunset sky, but seems it wasnt conveyed on film as I saw it.

Drove a BMW in Japan when living there, however that was probably the *worst* place to own one as the top speed is 80k(~50mph).
Bought a BMW almost 2 years back here in SoCal and have been truly enjoying driving the implied (and realized) speed limits.
