A bluestripe snapper in London Aquarium. Also known as the blue-line snapper or bluestripe sea perch, the snapper is native to the Indian and Western Pacific Oceans, though a large invasive population is also found around Hawaii.
Taken with a Nikon D40, fitted with a Nikkor 50mm 1:1.8 AIS manual focus lens and processed in GIMP and Photoscape.

During Atlantic red snapper season, our researchers go out along the east coast asking anglers about their red snapper trips and their catch. The survey is short and staff will follow social distancing and disinfection protocols. Starting in 2020, the State Reef Fish Angler designation is required for those 16 and older fishing from a private vessel in Florida for red snapper and certain reef fish.

School of them after minnows in the creek behind Mom's house. No geese or ducks in the creek, but Common Egret, Blue Heron, Green Heron, Cormorant, and Osprey were often there. Surprised to see Osprey there, they usually have migrated by now.

I saw the claw before I saw the rest of him. Freaked me out a little. Apparenty he lives in my pond - yikes!
I found this guy on the road. He was about a foot long, not huge for a snapper. I made sure he made it safely into the ditch after our photo session.

One of my favorite vintage cameras. The Simplex Snapper clips on to a 126 cartridge to form a complete camera. This concept was much copied by later 110 cartridge cameras.
There were a couple of other 126 imitators, but none have either the looks or functionality of the Snapper. There is a simple mechanism which locks the shutter until the registration hole is in the proper position to center the frame behind the lens. The shutter is also synchronized to fire flashcubes with an accessory attachment (not pictured).
Some reckless person requested more retro Vox pictures. Mmm, with a photographer dad, there are a LOT of them...
This is a small fragment of a slide from our 1970 San Francisco trip. We were in front of Alioto's and Fisherman's Wharf doing classic touristic sightseeing. That's mom behind me, looking worried as I dart off into traffic.
I like this shot because of A) the groovy dresses; B) you can get a better look at the Instamatic 500 I was using--it really was a decent camera; and C) you can see the young Vox completely oblivious to everything except getting the next shot....
