Small Snail Shell, personally I liked the texture and wanted to see if I could bring out some detail with such a basic setup
Found this lovely shell in my back yard (still no luck finding a live snail to photograph) and liked how it looked sitting on our new lanterns, with the contrasting curves. Perhaps I should clean them the next time I use them in a shot, but I think the dust adds something this time.
On a side note, and speaking of curves, I had planned on monthly themes for this 100, but I have decided to just do shots I'm happy with. I am doing another project with themes, so I think I will enjoy having more freedom with this project.

Synchronicities. There's really no such thing as meaningless coincidence.

It's been a month since I've uploaded anything...bleh. I don't know why. I think things will start picking up. I'm loving the beautiful weather we're having here!
Snails Pace...
While taking photos of the garden I spotted a snail on the concrete making its way ever so slowly towards the fence.
It was an easy target to photograph as it almost slowly moved across the concrete. Would this be considered still life.... LOL

sooc... Happy Friday! fence post edition of HFF - I gave up the rest of the fence for this wonderful group :)
#1. Syria and Suffolk. A pilgrim's water bowl from Damascus. Dried rose buds from Aleppo. Lavender and a snail shell from my old garden in Suffolk. And the smell of roses and lavender and ether while I worked...
working notes for myself: wet plate collodion, clear glass ambrotype, 4x5", wollensak raptar 101mm lens at f11 for 3 minutes, inside, natural light, horrible development, ridges, and comets and all
Spent some time focusing on the intricate geometry of nature with this close-up study. The stark contrast between the smooth, chalky spiral of the snail shell and the rough, gritty texture of the earth made for a perfect monochrome translation in Photoshop.Trying to isolate the micro-textures and tonal shifts to create a tactile feel in a two-dimensional frame.
