Today I had time to read a book. Actually you could take a picture was in my mind. I focused and had the sentence on the left page sharp. It is printed there: "Can I come with you?" I thought of silence and the sea and a ship. Anyway I folded a tiny paper boat and placed it on the other page of the book. The photo was ready, but where should I go, the senseless war, the dead, the madness, it's not safe out there ...

Hoping for a better world, pray for Ukraine and stay safe all!

While cleaning up my backyard (hah!), I found quite a few empty snail shells...and not having exercised my camera for a while, decided to give it a go! :-)

So here's a small snail family. Enjoy!

I finally decided to delete a lot of photos and free up disk space. I also found some photos that I completely forgot about, so now I'm sorting out the files as well.

When we take a closer look at this beautiful snail shell we can see here a whole universe. And it’s not only the ultimativ Fibonacci Form that is present everywhere around us. We find rugged landscapes, high mountains and flat plateaus in most beautiful colours. Who ever saw photos from other galaxies can see how similar they look. Not to forget this subject is uniting three of the themes we had in the last year.

Happy Monday, all!

Snail shell. Pecked at and broken.

Macro Mondays: Imperfect

HMM!

Not much say about this, it's just a snail shell which someone had placed on a wall in a park where I found it. I wasn't super inspired that day and left it where it was for a quick photo although I'm sure that the park would have offered possibilities for a more creative photo.

The spiral in a snail's shell is the same mathematically as the spiral in the Milky Way galaxy, and it's also the same mathematically as the spirals in our DNA. It's the same ratio that you'll find in very basic music that transcends cultures all over the world.

It's actually remnants of a Moon Snail's shell. I found it while collecting seashells at Sanibel Island in Florida several years ago. This theme is a wonderful challenge: it wasn't until I had been looking for a pareidolia for a few days until I remembered this shell!

It embodies the latest and most unusual form of the snails - the supernatural meta form.

Harry Belafonte – Turn the World Around

www.youtube.com/watch?v=yIOSKFNUxRg

We come from the fire, living in the fire

Go back to the fire, turn the world around ...

We come from the water, living in the water

Go back to the water, turn the world around ...

We come from the mountain, living on the mountain

Go back to the mountain, turn the world around ...

Oh, oh, so is life

Ah, ha, so is life

Oh, oh, so is life

Ah, ha, so is life

Do you know who I am?

Do I know who you are?

See, we one another clearly

Do we know who we are? ...

Oh, oh, so is life

Ah, ha, so is life

Oh, oh, so is Abatiwaha

Ah, so is life ...

Do you know who I am?

Do I know who you are?

See, we one another clearly

Do we know who we are?

Water make the river, river wash the mountain

Fire make the sunlight, turn the world around

Heart is of the river, body is the mountain

Spirit is the sunlight, turn the world around

We are of the spirit, truly of the spirit

Only can the spirit turn the world around ...

Do you know who I am?

Do I know who you are?

See, we one another clearly

Do we know who we are? ...

Oh, oh, so is life

Ah, ha, so is life

Oh, oh, so is Abatiwaha

Ah, so is life ... ...

It's a small snail shell (1.2 inch) on fresh snow. It's the "peel" of a snail ;-)

Pay attention to the small snow crystals. It looks very structured. Cool...

The danger of smoking in bed for a snail - but fortunately Brian had smoke and heat detectors installed, so was able to crawl out in plenty of time. He was also extremely pleased to have insurance and already has his replacement home from the shell dealership.

For Macro Mondays theme 'Radiant'. The empty snail shell was filled with bits of dead leaves and then some combustible fire gel was added. The gel provides the blue colour in the flame and the burning of the organic matter gave the orange colours.

A little macabre perhaps, but Hallowe'en is coming soon...

No snails were harmed in the making of this photograph.

Day 110/365:

April 2022: A month in 30 pictures

I went to pick a few of these wild violets from my garden and there seemed to be a little snail graveyard by them. It seemed a good idea to use a natural vase for these little beauties. Getting them to stay put was another matter entirely. The top one was obviously camera shy! I did a version without the extra shell but my husband preferred this one, since I couldn't decide I went with his choice.

... Spring is coming

For Macro Mondays’ theme “Natural shells”

Happy Macro Monday
