It's so refreshing & yummy!!!
Been trying out this "power" smoothie for breakfast. Supposed to give me more energy and all the other good stuff. So far so good me thinks!
Experimenting with DOF. Took this after already taking some sips. Homemade with fresh fruit, yogurt, and ice.
Steve Kuhnau, founder of Smoothie King, is sometimes credited with the creation of the Smoothie. Working as a soda jerker in his teenage years, Kuhnau found himself unable to digest the very malts, shakes, and floats he was preparing, due to a lactose intolerance. Consequently, he formulated the world's first nutritional smoothie in his kitchen, to serve as a healthier, dairy-free alternative to popular ice cream based drinks of the era. His novel drink idea, a blend of fresh fruit coupled with vitamin and protein additives, proved also to be efficacious in treating his allergies and stabilizing his blood-sugar level. This creation was the impetus for an industry: shortly after his first store opened in Kenner, Louisiana 1973, stores began to appear all over the New Orleans Metropolitan area, and subsequently in Washington, D.C. and 32 other contiguous United States. Kuhnau began to franchise the Smoothie King name and business in 1989.

Today I went to Fred Meyer with my brother and I made up a smoothie. It turned out pretty good! Inspired by Shay Carl Butler's "Shayloss" campaign. Not that I'm truly eating healthy, I just thought it looked tasty. Who knows, maybe I will start creating more nutritious concoctions in the future.
Smoothie King took over a former Hardee's (originally Burger Chef) on Presque Isle Ave. across from Northern Michigan University.
Note the Burger Chef roofline.
Nearing the end, well technical we have already completed this challenge we started a week prior, I can feel my gut getting smaller. I have noticed other things like having more energy, generally feeling more active. Now, it is not just the smoothie, as lately we have been eating a lot less junk, as you may know last the last 2 months were months of Gluttony as we played hotel to many many people.
You know how people see this one thing on tv and have try it. There was one day where we had 3 desserts, 2 types of waffles and a coffee bun. Yea try doing that for many days in a row see how much energy you have.
So what I am saying is I am potentially seeing a placebo effect as we have cut down on the high sugar foods, while the same time we started drinking this guy every morning. So you can see where the extra energy may come from.
Beside my drink is the little ones drink, lately he has been pretty good and drinking 3 cups of this a day, not bad if you ask me after all hydration is important, even if he fills up more diapers in the day!
It's smoothie season so I've prepped up a load of fruit ready for the freezer which will eventually be blended up into smoothies.
My favourite recipe: Strawberries, Pineapple and Blueberries, plus apple juice and a bit of low fat natural yoghurt.
Yum!
A tasty alternative to fruit bars for brekky. Sweet, fruity, and packed with fibre, this is one of the best smoothies I have made.
Spinach Smoothie:
- One bunch of fresh spinach (de-stemed;thoroughly rinsed)
- One medium Hass avocado (as ripe as you can stand it)
- One Granny Smith apple (as yellow as possible;cored, keep the skin for vitamins)
- One Bosc pear (soft to the touch; cored, keep the skin for vitamins)
- One Persian lime or two Key limes (the juice is needed)
- One pint of either natural vanilla ice cream or vanilla yogurt (homemade is best, the fewer preservatives the better).
1. Using a food processor or shake blender, whiz the spinach first. Then add the ingredients.
Voila - a batido de espinacas
Smoothieboard print on left. Marlin/Ramps on right.
Ignoring the temperature issues on the smoothie print it has less faceting. The vertical lines that are clearly visible in the Marlin/Ramps print are not visible in the smoothie print.
After a day of not very light and healthy foods (all day training at work) I needed something light and a little bit healthy for dinner. This is one of my favourite smoothies - milk, oats, honey, banana and vanilla.
Day 10 already - I made it to double digits!

Thanks Rich! Glad your wife digs her new ES! This build is c/o Kevin Miller at Blue Heron Bicycle Works in WI.
I'm finding myself missing fresh fruit so much these days. Thankfully, there is a lot of the frozen variety that I can still enjoy. The smoothie was my lunch today!

On Saturday April 3rd 2010, massive pillow fights occurred in cities around the world!
The project, Pillow Fight Day 2010, is a collaboration of many people who comprise a loose, decentralized network of urban playground event organizers all over the world.
ABOUT NEWMINDSPACE
All over the world, groups like Newmindspace organize free, fun, all ages, non-commercial public events. From a massive Mobile Clubbing event in a London train station to a giant pillow fight near the Eiffel Tower in Paris to a subway party beneath the streets of Toronto, it is clear that the urban playground is growing around the world, leaving more public and more social cities in its wake. This is the urban playground movement, a playful part of the larger public space movement.
One of the goals at Newmindspace is to make these unique happenings in public space become a significant part of popular culture, partially replacing passive, non-social, branded consumption experiences like watching television. The result will be a global community of participants in a world where people are constantly organizing and attending these happenings in every major city in the world.
Other projects include:
*BLANKET FORTS: fortresses made of blankets and pillows. A labyrinthine complex of themed, soft forts installed inside a 2000 square-foot private loft. Midnight snacks, smoothies, and hot cocoa are offered. Teddy bears, pajamas and bath robes welcome. It is meant to be an intimate evening among friends and friends of friends, as well as a fundraiser for their free, outdoor public events.
*WE<3 NY: on February 14th, volunteers painted thousands of hearts on the sidewalks of SoHo.
*SANTACON: is a not-for-profit, non-political, non-religious & non-logical Santa Claus convention, attended for absolutely no reason. Check out the website: nycsantacon.com/
*PHOTOGRAPH: people photographing people photographing people and then uploaded to Flickr.
*CAPTURE THE FLAG!: a massive, adrenaline-pumping, urban game played on the streets of downtown Toronto. Two teams hide flags in their territory and attempt to capture the enemy flag using subways, streetcars, bicycles, longboards or their own two feet.
*MARSHMELLOW CIVIL WAR: a historical reenactment in New York of questionable accuracy. With marshmallows.
*BUBBLE BATTLE: thousands of people converge in Times Square for a bubble battle. Loosely based on the Dr. Seuss Classic The Butter Battle Book.
*LIGHTSABER BATTLE: 3,000 blacklight-reactive, meter-long cardboard tubes are distributed in Washington Square Park, and massive blacklight cannons are aimed at the crowd...the battle continues until every tube is destroyed.
*BIG WHEEL RACE: racing down the Great Hill in Central Park on big wheels, trikes, skateboards, velocipedes, or handmade contraptions on wheels, along with superhero costumes.
*JINGLE BELL ROCK: people bring their personal music players with their favorite tunes and a gift to exchange, and everyone rocks out.
