A rather large thicket of these along the trail; this clump of 'berries' was exponentially darker and richer colors than any of the others in this spot. This shot taken essentially right back into the sun. Liked the dark richness of the red and the white backdrop. (Other than cropping this is SOOC)

The ice frozen along the Milwaukee lake front was smooth enough to skate on, only it wasn't very stable. Broken pieces near the shore were maybe a half-inch thick. We've a few days of warm weather since I took this, so it's probably all open water now.

Encountered during a field trip to southwestern Ontario in April 2003.

Shot at noon, sunny day, ISO 100, F16, 180 seconds.

Welding glass held on to a rubber hood with a couple elastics. Not ideal. Prone to light leaks.

Cool effect though.
