hey guys - it's november, which means it's time for another semi-annual roundup of my favourites. for those of you who are not familiar with this little tradition of mine, take a look at the mosaics from may or last november. in this one i tried to include photographers whose work is new to me, although i couldn't ignore two or three of my all-time flickr favourites, because i fave almost everything they upload.

Not a particularly good photo and the scene hasn't changed significantly since last time, but it was the first upload using a new-to-me Eye-Fi (graciously provided by Edward Shepard).
imagine the scene.
i had just driven 85 miles to pick up someone i'd never met, someone who already felt like family. as i finally left the highway and drove through downtown poughkeepsie, trying not to get lost, thoughts from all different directions swirled in my head -- wondering which state florian was in, wondering how smalldogs was doing, wondering if i had enough food in the house, wondering if i would still have a job after december, wondering if kelly would think i was fat, wondering if the sequel to pirates of the caribbean is really as bad as they're saying, wondering if i'd really get another tattoo.
i stopped at a red light, a block away from where kelly was waiting.
and i looked up.
and i almost cried.
because i'd finally found a sign for smalldogs.

when i saw this sign, as strolling on the deserted side of the rhine river in cologne, i instantly thought of smalldogs.
this is my homage to her fabulous photos of cool signs (often with red characters!), which never miss to bring me back of many memories of LA where i lived for 7 years, taken for the My Impression Of... group.
This little dog was all dressed up for the cold with red booties and a warm teddy bear style coat. Hair was styled with a pink clip and tie. The fluffy tail indicated that she was probably a mix of an Asian breed and maybe part miniature poodle.
the photo on the right is sammy the first day i brought him home, dirty, underweight, and sick with kennel cough. the photo on the left is sammy today, healthy and happy.
you can make a major difference in an animals life by adopting a pet from your local animal shelter. it is one of the most rewarding things i have ever done.
