Soaked overnight in 4 qts of water with 2-3 tablespoons of salt

i left the meat in some of the sauce and kept it warm, while i reduced the rest of the sauce down and flaked the meat back into it! served on mashed potatoes, what a treat! My husband wants ribs done in the same sauce now, hehe =)

A spice rub of brown sugar, paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, cayenne pepper and salt was rubbed on the meat

Apparently you really can bake a cake in a slow cooker. It's starting to smell and look like cake.

Just a rather boring family meal, but full of flavour nonetheless. :-)

Goulash to start with ...

chicken pieces.. . . tomatoes, onions, mushrooms and possibly, bell peppers. It is simmered for a long time to bring out the flavors and to allow the meat to become meltingly tender.

I decided that from the start of the New Year I would try a few new recipes.

Today it's Beef and Ale Stew.

Yes I know that a Schwartz slow cooker mix is not the best way to start but I'm hoping I will improve.

I have onions, carrots and beef plus the packet mix.

I'm also trying to use my newest gadgets.

Last week I used the tagine for a Moroccan dish.

I forgot to take a shot before the boys ate all of the kielbasa. It was good and very, very easy and I suppose low carb, so I was generally pleased with it.

short ribs with onion, celery, carrots, turnips and sundried tomatoes simmered in red wine and stock for 6 hours...

 

I used the crockpot instead braising in the oven.

The chicken was removed from the liquid and more fat was skimmed from the liquid.

A simple slow-cooker nabe made with leftover pork, tofu, seaweed, daikon, gobo, and konyaku....
