ES44AC 5745, slogs its train up-grade, enroute to the PRB in Wyoming for more power station food.

Contrary to the title, it's blistering here in Provo, South Dakota, and the train isn't too far from its destination, either.

Slogging up Battlefield Bank with 2200 tonne of fine aggregate stone is Freightliner class 66615 with the now late running Morton on Lugg to Crewe Basford Hall. On arrival at Crewe the train will be rostered to work the train onto Washford Heath

70802 and an unidentified classmate, slog up Hatton Bank, working the Hinksey Sidings - Bescot Up Engineers Sidings, with a Kirow Crane, in tow.

Standing on Hatton station, north bound trains can be heard for maybe one or two minutes, especially in this evening's damp air, before reaching you, and it was obvious with it's whining AC traction motors that a class 70 was on its way; the crane was just a bonus.

Stanier Black5 No.5428 slogs round the curve at Beckhole on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway. Back in the 1960s I cleaned this engine and learned how to fire a steam engine, on her footplate, when I was an engine cleaner at 55C. No reproduction or use without prior consent

SR Schools Class 926 Repton gets stuck in as it makes its way up the fierce gradient from Grosmont to Goathland, with the 6 coach 1430 departure from the former. The sound was tremendous. Seen near Beck Hole.

So after a long slog, we finally get to the end of my massive March session, aside from the handful of 'Underwear Sunday' photos left.

This was an awkward set to do as it turned out someone was coming around to sort of the boiler and I didn't know until I heard him working, having to hold off and remain as silent as possible until I was sure he had gone. Since he had to come around through the back gate it's a good thing I wasn't still doing photos in the garden!

I don't remember any previous 365's being this hard a slog at the end... :-/

We slogged up San Giusto hill (Mont Sei Busi at Redipuglia) the highest point in Trieste to check out the WWI war memorial, Miramare Castle & Cattedrale di San Giusto Martire.

1 of 4.

First stop was a visit toCattedrale di San Giusto Martire

The current appearance of the Cathedral derives from the unification of the two pre-existing churches : the Church of Santa Maria and the Church dedicated to the martyr San Giusto, patron saint of the city of Trieste.

The gabled façade is characterized by a large double wheel rose window, a statue of San Giusto, coats of arms and a portal deriving from the cutting of a Roman funerary stele.

The bell tower, with a square plan, was originally higher, but in 1422, following a lightning bolt, its height was reduced to its current height.

The interior offers interesting traces of 5th century mosaic floors in front of the presbytery, while the apse is decorated with modern mosaics. The frescoes depicting the life of the Saint date back to the 13th century.

HE RUINS:

The ruins are the oldest vestiges of the city, the remains of an ancient building, from the Roman era (in the second century BC).

There is a stone base, columns & some still retain their capitals.

In the centre of the square, are the remains of the ancient basilica , one of the most important buildings of the ancient Roman cities.

The basilica, in ancient Rome, was the place where commercial affairs took place and where justice was administered. It was located in the forum , that is the main square of the city and Trieste's was right on the top of the hill of San Giusto.

Little remains of the ancient basilica as its material was reused for the construction of the first nucleus of the current. cathedral

I passed this obscure "office" on a side street...its atmosphere was dark and somber. This man was alone, waiting for the day to pass...albeit slowly. I entered the office and asked for a photo, he gave a very slight nod of his head without murmuring a word, his pose remained frozen from the moment I entered his office to the moment I left.

66760 'David Gordon Harris' slogs past Peakirk level crossing on the 1st of June 2020. The GBRf locomotive has exited the East Coast Main Line at Werrington Junction in the distance (note the large yellow crane as part of the junction upgrade) and now heading along the former Great Northern and Great Eastern Joint Railway towards Lincoln. These wide vistas were the reward for slogging up the steep trail to Scout Overlook on the Angel's Landing Trail. A storm threatened a downpour during the entire hike, but never unleahed its fury until I returned to my car parked far below at The Grotto.

6th March 2018. On a 30742 Photo Group charter BR 7MT Britannia 4-6-2 No.70013 Oliver Cromwell climbs out of Keighley with a mixed goods train. I turned the picture to black and white so that it would give the scene a more period feel. The railway is part of the Keighley And Worth Valley Railway.

70013 'Oliver Cromwell' slogs up the final mile of the 1 in 75 climb to Shap Summit under stormy skies with "The Winter Cumbrian Mountain Express" on 25th February 2012. Gordon Hodgson can be seen leaning from the driver's seat, grip was poor lower down the bank with a number of slips, this is evident by the use of the sanders as it powers up towards Shap Summit with its heavy load. Fireman Craig Stinchcombe's efforts with the shovel can be seen from the clag coming from the chimney!

Having spent so long at Cleveland, it was getting dark when I met with Sully. Then the sky took on the hue of mad rain clouds, and the unpaved roads turned to exciting. So here's the thing, despite seeing a number of photographs of the shot I wanted to take, I couldn't find the right hill to stand on, which left me with the view you see above. Just as the rain abated, the roar of a GE became so loud, it was obvious to me that a train's eminence was immanent. (Frasier). Thusly it was time to fire up the Kwanon and start snapping.

Slow moving, ascent slogging CN65 DHF (2157) has a queue of patient A470 traffic in tow as it climbs mercilessly through the Lledr Valley to Blaenau Ffestiniog. This was the hastily arranged X1 diagram that resulted from Express Motors losing their operating license, traversing the valleys between Llandudno and Blaenau and providing an apparent (but not quite) rival to the Conwy Valley Line, under which the Enviro minibus has just passed underneath. Gethin's Bridge stands tall and old, spanning the Lledr river at this location equidistant between Betws-y-Coed and Pont-y-Pant.

Day 2 of being back to work and yesterday was a real slog. I'm in a 4 hour project meeting today which no doubt will be equally hard going. Especially considering I'll have to make an effort to raise a lot of our concerns, as I've been mostly front and centre as the departmental lead on the project (even though it's way above my pay grade to be so). Management will be there but mostly they have their heads in the sand, hoping it will all go away. Oh well fun times ahead, life would be so much simpler if I could just sit on the worktop all day attempting to look pretty 😁

====The Bar====

*Set during Drury's incarceration in Blackgate*

Jules- September is the worst month.

Chancer- Yeah, I kinda have to agree. It's a real slog to get through.

Jules- Precisely! There's not even a single holiday!

Chuck- There's Labor Day.

Jules- Fuck Labor Day.

Blake- Thrilling... Len, I'll have your finest milk please!

Len- Right...

*Len disappears into the backroom, bucket in hand*

Blake- *Sniff* Hey, do you smell the salty tang of feminine tears?

Chancer- No, because I'm not an insatiable furry.

Blake- Your loss. *sniff* Smells good.

Chuck- Is it like a Hydra? Is that what it is? Kill one furry and two more shall take it's place?

Chancer- I'm going to the bar. I have to wash that image out of my head.

Blake- Bleach'll do it faster!

Chuck- You might be onto something Blake.

Blake- About the bleach?

Chuck- No, that patter about sad women...

*Chuck gestures to the Bar*

Blake- Well well well... Miranda Gaige...

Chuck- Miranda Walker isn't it?

Jules- I dunno, she's inconsistent about that.

Chuck- It's a sad thing really. Drury in Blackgate, Gar in Arkham, and- Blake?

Blake- Yeah?

Chuck- What are you wearing?

Blake- My lucky suit!

Jules- It smells of Karl Kyle.

Blake- You would know

Chuck- Blake, you're an amoral guy. I respect your carefree attitude... but come on.

Blake- Yeah, I could probably do better.

...

Chuck- No you couldn't. She's a bombshell

Blake- And I'm a nuke. Watch and learn.

*Blake sits at the bar inbetween Chancer and Miranda*

Blake- Heyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

Jules- Oh no Tom. No...

Chuck- He's still going!

Blake- yyyyyyyyy

Jules- It's commitment I suppose...

Blake- -yyyyyy-y. Hey.

Miranda- Blake.

Blake- I was just thinking if you wanted-

=======

Chuck- What do you think?

Chancer- "to tickle my hairball"

Chuck- "me to spend one of my nine lives with you"

=======

Blake- -Tickle my hairball.

Chuck- *sigh* You win.

Miranda- Are you for real?

Blake- I think so. Heh. Made you mad did I? Gonna spank-

*Miranda splashes her drink in Blake's face then leaves. Blake falls off his stool*

Abner- The stool is mine!

Blake- Hssssss! Hssss! Gimme a fucking towel!

Jules- Use my cape.

Blake- Thanks.

Jules- Don't feel too bad Thomas. It was never going to work-

*Blake throws his fellow misfits a death glare*

Jules- *Because* she's not good enough for you, right guys?

Chancer- Pushover.

Blake- Hmm. Why didn't it work...

Chuck- Because you hit on a grieving married woman?

*Death glare intensifies*

Jules- Ah, don't listen to them.

Blake- Who does she think she is? That girl has tangled with the wrong man! No one says "no" to Tom Blake!

Chancer- Except her.

Blake- Dismissed! Rejected! Publicly humiliated! Why, it's more than I can bear

Jules- More milk?

Blake- What for? Nothing helps. I'm disgraced

Jules- Who, you? Never! Blake, man, you've got to pull yourself together

*To the tune of Gaston*

Jules- Gosh, it disturbs me to see you, Catman

Looking so down in the dumps

Every guy here'd love to be you, Catman

Not counting *those* C-Lister chumps

There's no man in here as admired as you

You're ev'ryone's favorite guy

Ev'ryone's awed and inspired by you

And it's not very hard to see why

No one's slick as Catman

No one's quick as Catman

Chancer- No one's head's as incredibly thick as Catman's

Jules- Still, there's no man in town half as manly

Perfect, a pure paragon

You can ask any Bruce, Dick, or Alfie

And they'll tell you whose team they prefer to be on

Patrons- No one's big like Catman

A king pin like Catman

Jules- No one's got a swell cleft in his chin like Catman

Blake- As a specimen, yes, I'm intimidating

Patrons- My, what a guy, that Catman

Give five "hurrahs!"

Give twelve "hip-hips!"

Jules- Catman is the best

And the rest is all drips

Patrons- No one fights like Catman

Douses lights like Catman

In a wrestling match nobody bites like Catman

Patrons- For there's no one as burly and brawny

Blake- As you see I've got biceps to spare

Jules- Not a bit of him's scraggly or scrawny

Blake- That's right! And ev'ry last inch of me's covered with fur

Patrons- No one hits like Catman

Chancer- No one shits like Catman

Jules- In a spitting match nobody spits like Catman

Blake- I'm espcially good at expectorating -- Ptooey!

Chancer- What the fuck's wrong with Catman?

Blake- When I was a kit, I ate four dozen fish

Ev'ry morning to help me get large

And now that I'm grown, I eat five dozen fish

Chancer- So you're roughly the size of a barge?

Patrons- No one stabs like Catman

Chancer- No one dabs like Catman

Jules- Then goes tromping around wearing boots like Catman

Blake- I use dead mice in all of my decorating

Patrons- Say it again

Who's a man among men?

And then say it once more

Who's the hero next door?

Who's a super success?

Don't you know? Can't you guess?

Ask his fans and his five hangers-on

There's just one guy in town who's got all of it down

Jules- And his name's C-A-T--T--

C-A-T-E--

C-A-T-M-A-oh!

Chancer- Batman!
