This is a shot from a small antiques museum in the town near us. Fascinating stuff they have! Antique guns, motorbikes, bottles, cameras, snuff boxes, all kinds of goadygads and gewgags, tons of antique stuff. This work is from an antique coffee pot with the lovely rose pattern.

As promised, here's the colour version of my previous upload (please see the first comment). I'm a bit late today, too, because I had to fix my Lightroom installation first. I had this wonderful plan of transferring the catalogue to an external hard drive, so I can use it both on my desktop and my new laptop and keep it synchronized on both machines, but something went very wrong, and I ended up with damaged catalogues on both machines plus I lost all editing work I'd done on my laptop on this image last night. Sigh. Luckily I could fix both installations, but I still have to go trouble hunting and see what went wrong exactly, because it really would be so convenient to use one external hard drive for both computers. Maybe it's the fact that my PC still runs on Win 10, while the laptop uses Win 11 – and yes, all you Apple users out there, I know what you will say now: that this would never happen on a Mac ;)
Either way, here's the colour version. It's much wider than the GR III version (18 mm vs. 28 mm), and there are two birds (please press Z) in it as a bonus, too ;) I did some sliding, too, of course, first in Color Efex where I used the preset "HDR-like" as a starting point, and tweaked it to my liking (I've added the filter "Reflector Efex Gold" to brighten the foreground, for instance), next in LR, and I hope you like this version as well. Happy Sliders Sunday, everyone, and have a nice new week ahead!
...City
While Rome is the Eternal City one might call Berlin the eternal building site. Or The Unfinished City. Construction cranes are as prominently featured in Berlin's skyline as sights. And it can happen that, if you haven't visited a place in a longer while ("easy" in pandemic times), you'll find old, familiar buildings gone, while new buildings seem to pop up out of nowhere everywhere. I've taken this image last week after a visit to the Futurium (a "House of the Future", opened in 2019 – I'll post images from there soon); in the foreground you can see the river Spree, and the glass building on the left is Berlin's Central Station, the Hauptbahnhof (HBF). Noteworthy: The HBF's upper platforms aren't fully roofed, because the Deutsche Bahn (DB; the German Railway Company) wanted to open the HBF in time for the 2006 World Football Championship by all means, and it would have taken until 2008 to finish the roof. The irony: All the construction parts needed to finish the roof were already manufactured. To this date these parts are stored on the premises of Berlin's East Station. Will the roof ever be finished? Who knows... The construction site you see in front of the HBF has nothing to do with the HBF's roof. It is that of the new S 21 suburban railway line, which is scheduled for completion in 2022. Allegedly...
At first, I wanted to process this as a monochrome, because the scene is rather busy. But I liked all these colours. So I thought "embrace the chaos, embrace the construction site and all those cranes", and do it in colour ;) The final image is an HDR made from three images (in HDR Efex), with further processing / sliding steps in Color Efex.
Happy Sliders Sunday, Everyone, stay safe and healthy, and take care!

At the Spreebogen - on the right side of the location for the photo - stands the Paul Löbe House. It was named after Paul Löbe (SPD), President of the Reichstag and former President of the first German Bundestag. In the background, on the right, you can see the stairway to the lower bridge that leads across the Spree.
It connects the Luise Schröder House on the other side with the Paul Löbe House. The upper bridge connects the two houses and is not freely accessible to the public.
I wish you a relaxing evening and a good week, dear friends. Nice of you to drop by.

Nothing like a paella at the beach bar by the sea, under some umbrellas and with a refreshing sangria - lemonade.
Recipe of Sangria:
Sangria is a typically Spanish drink made up of wine, sugar, soda and chopped fruit.
Orange and lemon, the most abundant fruits, bananas, apples, pears, apricots or peaches fit perfectly in sangria. Soda should be added at the last moment, so that it retains its strength, also ice to taste.

I liked this shot I'd taken of a backlit dandelion seedhead, but I disliked the background, because it had both very dark and very bright patches. I resorted to some twiddlation! HSS :D

As promised (previous photo), I've opened the door at the end of the passage for you, and now we're in the sanatorium's most elegant (albeit in a slightly morbid way) lounge. A cocktail, anyone? Dust Martini? Madhattan? Deadquiri? Whisky dour? Or the classic,
a Bloody Mary ;-)
I've re-processed this photo today. As with the previous capture, a processed version has been waiting on my harddrive for months, but when I looked at it today, I found it way too harsh. At that time, I'd checked out DxO (and in the end uninstalled it for good),
and - knowing myself - I'd probably just applied everything possible ;-) This photo is another Lumix LX100 shot. This isn't even sharp all over, so I most likely still had my Oly mounted on the tripod from the previous photo, and this was handheld. I think the slightly blurry parts add kind of a weird underwater touch, but I hope it's still "pleasant" (for an urbex scenery) enough to look at. Well, I think it is, and I hope you agree. I did some more subtle processing here, detail enhancement only here or there, a subtle glow effect (ON1), Natural neutral density filter (Color Efex), and in the end applied some subtle de-noising in Topaz.
Cheers, Everyone, HSS, and I wish you a Happy Sunday and a pleasant new week ahead!
The macro mondays theme for 8/15 is/was pink and I had at least 20 possibilities, although not all are posted yet or in the album. Some are too large (like the hugs pillow). This one seems to be well liked so far and was one of 3-4 I could have chosen.

#Shocktober
If only tomorrow's MM theme were "Backlit" – this tiny spider that I found today, sitting on my insect shield and enjoying the autumn sun there, would have provided me with a nice photo. But the theme is "Sidelit", and I still have to take that shot. But first things first, after all it's (Sliders) Sunday, it's Shocktober (have I mentioned that the spider sat on the inside of my insect shield?), and a spider is just perfect for that :) I've used the 16 mm extension tube to get closer to the tiny beast. It patiently let me take a few shots, but not too many, before it went on the run first upwards along the insect shield. Later it must have completed the prison break, because when I returned to that window, the spider was gone. I've also used diverse filters on this image, in ON1, in Color Efex, in Analog Efex, to
give the image a proper Sliders Sunday look.
HSS, Everyone!
