Forest destruction, due primarily to slash-and-burn practices, charcoal production and illegal logging, is the principal threat, but hunting is increasingly becoming a significant threat (including with blowpipes, firearms, bow-and-arrows and traps) and sometimes entire groups are captured.
The common brown lemur has a total length of 84 to 101 cm (33 to 40 in), including 41 to 51 cm (16 to 20 in) of tail. Weight ranges from 2 to 3 kg (4.4 to 6.6 lb).
The short, dense fur is primarily brown or grey-brown. The face, muzzle and crown are dark grey or black with paler eyebrow patches, and the eyes are orange-red.
The common brown lemur occupies a variety of forest types, including lowland rainforests, montane rainforests, moist evergreen forests and dry deciduous forests. They spend about 95% of their time in upper layers of the forest and less than 2% of their time on the ground.
They are primarily active during the day, but can exhibit cathemeral activity and continue into the night, especially during full moons and during the dry season.
They normally live in groups of 5 to 12, but group size can be larger. Groups include members of both sexes, including juveniles, and there are no discernible dominance hierarchies.
The diet consists largely of fruits, young leaves, and flowers, supplemented with bark, sap, soil, bird eggs and animal prey (including insects, centipedes, millipedes, and nestlings). It can tolerate greater levels of toxic compounds from plants than other lemurs can.
The mating season is in May and June. Most adult females produce offspring each year. One or two young are born in September or October, after a gestation period of around 120 days. Weaning occurs at 6–7 months, and sexual maturity at between 1–2 years. Individuals may live up to 30 years.

Slash, de son vrai nom Saul Hudson, est un guitariste anglo-américain né le 23 juillet 1965 à Hampstead, à Londres (Royaume-Uni).
À ses débuts, il était le guitariste d'un groupe nommé Road Crew. Toutefois, il est surtout connu pour être le guitariste soliste du groupe de hard rock Guns N' Roses de 1985 à 1996, puis de nouveau à partir de 2016, et le leader de Slash's Snakepit de 1995 à 2001. Il a ensuite fondé Velvet Revolver avec Duff McKagan et Matt Sorum. En 2010, il se lance dans une carrière solo et sort son premier album intitulé Slash qui réunira plusieurs artistes notamment le chanteur et guitariste Myles Kennedy avec qui il fera les albums solo Apocalyptic Love et World on Fire.
Saul Hudson (born July 23, 1965), better known by his stage name Slash, is a British-American musician and songwriter. He is best known as the lead guitarist of the American hard rock band Guns N' Roses, with whom he achieved worldwide success in the late 1980s and early 1990s. During his later years with Guns N' Roses, Slash formed the side project Slash's Snakepit. After leaving Guns N' Roses in 1996, he co-founded the supergroup Velvet Revolver, which re-established him as a mainstream performer in the mid to late 2000s. Slash has since released three solo albums: Slash (2010), featuring an array of famous guest musicians, and Apocalyptic Love (2012) and World on Fire (2014), recorded with his band, Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators. He returned to Guns N' Roses in 2016, nearly 20 years after he had left.
