It was advertised as a truck that rode like a car and at other times a Car that serves as a truck! Seems sketchy to me but makes for a wonderful HTT!

Happy Truck Thursday!

Standing 8 feet off the ground on a downed tree that i shimmied out on that was bouncing the entire time while we waited. It may not be the traditional lower angle of Skyline but it's an angle that will soon be too overgrown to do.

A view of the Grand Canal in Venice with a sketchy effect applied using Photoshop. HSS Since I wrote this I did some looking back at my series of photos. This is actually one of the larger canals that branches from the Grand Canal in the Cannaregio district.

Sometimes they make the more interesting places and memories.

I wasn't gonna quit so easily, we didn't go to sleep. The main goal of this second trip to the Twin Ports area was to shoot that consist, and that's exactly what we did. Not in the way I had imagined but whatever. I have to say that this is a very sketchy shot to get, you have to stop on the I-35 overpass to get it, but the lack of sleep made it sound like a great idea somehow.

I did manage to get a couple of decent shots after all, mission accomplished I'd say.

You could make the argument that this is a trail fail. But the ACU certainly isn't a bad leader in my books though and I was a huge fan of these when they came out. CP 674 with sand loads outta Sparta are seen from the I-90 overpass near West Salem. This is a great shot on the Tomah Sub, but it's a hair raising experience.

On this day in 2017, I was driving from Wausau to Madison and got a perfectly timed call about this train. So I took the long way back in order to get a few shots; something I did a few times during this era. The chase was a nice tri-stater along the Tomah and Marquette Subs, making it a highlight for the 2017 foaming season.

First snowshoe of the season today and it must have been colder than we thought. The waterfall is usually not as heavily frozen at this time of year. Hard to gauge what's underfoot though, and that tripod came in handy for more than supporting a camera - it also worked well to sound out and avoid potentially sketchy ice under the snow.

What I only can assume is the CPBN returns lite power to Pig's Eye and is seen between Seventh Street and Division Street control points in some less than good light.

I took some shots at Lanercost Priory as the sun set. The one I chose was an afterthought as I turned around before heading to the car. In the end I opted for it as I quite like the sketchy quality the longer exposure gives to the sky. The trees are a bit cluttered, but I didn't have an axe handy to improve my composition.

I am going to pick up a prime lens and a new tripod tomorrow. So.... for I will be forced out of my comfort zone and I will get to see whether my camera is able to get out of F18+!

The tripod gave up the ghost completely today. The head can no longer support the weight of the camera and you can watch during a long exposure the lens droops and slides down. Not really pin sharp those shots I can tell you, but some interesting motion blurring! This was the final straw. It had already lost two of its three feet, and had one leg that wouldn't collapse. I only used it for the first time on 86 days ago and I've destroyed it.

I've recovered what whatever illness I had but am worn out from a busy week. So I will catch up on commenting over the long weekend. No work til Tuesday! Anyway, I must go. I've been reading this great book on anti-gravity and I can't put it down.

For many years, in a cost saving measure, the GTW and Ann Arbor ran on a shared mainline from Owosso to Durand. After GTW sold the line and the Ann Arbor went bankrupt, the names have changed, but the same arrangement remains. Today, line owner Huron & Eastern and trackage right partner Great Lakes Central are now running the trains on this piece of railroad. While all of the rail was pulled on the old Ann Arbor mainline, a handful of the bridges still remain. The largest still standing is the bridge over the Shiawassee River in Vernon. A couple sets of bridge ties still rest on the top of the steel bridge, but a couple sections have open sections where only the steel is visible. One such section is from the south end, where I chose to walk out- I mean, crawl, because I am not the biggest fan of heights in certain instances, this being one. Hands and knees, I crawled out the 15 or so feet, while also testing each ties I crawled on as they seemed somewhat punky, but still solid enough to support me as an extra GLC southbound with storage cars for Cohoctah and transfers for CSX at Howell. It was the only sun I got that day, and the only time I nearly had an anxiety attack at heights, thankfully.

We spent a lovely day in Valetta, while there we visited St John's Co-cathedral, it was fabulous...so much gold!

Sorry, not much time for commenting and internet sketchy, will catch up soon.
