Did you know the first popcorn-popping machine was built in the 1890s by Charles Cretors, who then introduced the horse-drawn popcorn wagon? Before long, vendors set up in front of movie theaters, which is why you’ve spent many movie nights picking hulls out of your teeth!

Did you know that cashews are actually a fruit, and they contain urushiol, the stuff that makes poison ivy so bad? It’s in all parts of the cashew tree, which is why cashews are not sold in the shell, and they’re roasted to destroy the remnants of the oil that would have urushiol in it.

January 22 is National Polka Dot Day.

Did you know the first sewing machine was invented in 1790, and that allowed the creation of symmetrical circles on fabric - hence polka dots? And why ‘polka’. There was a polka dance craze in the 1840s, and the name was given to many things to cash in on the popularity.

I was going to do a grumpy dog but while grumpy cats look cute, grumpy dogs just look like they're going to bite you!

Did you know, despite the fact that they are harmless, there is an old belief in some countries, that the bite of the peanut-headed lantern fly was poisonous, and the only cure was to have sex immediately? I’ll bet people who believed that got bit a lot!

Did you know the older Swedish stoves, aka Masonry stoves, were built with bricks covered in tile? They were more efficient than other wood stoves because the bricks would heat up and continue to release heat even after the fire went out, meaning less fuel was needed.

Did you know cacao is in the Mallow family which means it is related to okra and cotton? So does that mean I can substitute chocolate for okra?

This piece of chocolate has gold sprinkles on it, but the scan didn’t pick it up.

Did you know two meteor showers occur this October? The Draconid occurs October. 7-8, the more spectacular Orionid occurs the 20-21.

Let’s hope this painting isn’t predicting anything. I felt like I was channeling Tales of the Crypt when painitng this one.

Well here is what I put together to put inside my second bag. I am already planning some modification - rearranging of the pans and making sure that they are dry before I take them out.
