The original idea for these asymmetrical earrings came from a custom request listed on etsy for bridesmade earrings for a dress that had a wide strap on one side, and no strap on the other. Hillary thought that having a two different earrings might be an interesting way to draw attention to the asymmetry of the dress while still balancing the overall look.

Be prepared for 25 minutes of camp and chaos as Jim & Melissa explore human depravity through sketch. There will be blood. There will be fetish. There will be computer simulations. This is a sketch of a bud bud that I saw on a tree. What I thought was so interesting about it was the actual bud itself for a few reasons. 1) It's fall time and most trees are losing its leafs and this one has lost them and seems to have buds ready for the spring. 2) The bud seemed to have a white, fuzzy, fluffy covering to it. Since it had rained earlier, they were all wet and when I squeezed one, it acted like a sponge and water came out. It made me think if maybe they act like sponges to help absorb water to supply the tree with nutrients. 3) The tree looked like it had lost its leaves a while ago, may be even before every other tree. I don't recall seeing a single leaf on it or many on the ground below. Thats stood out to me because many trees still have, if not all, but at least some still on and those that hardly have any, has a mess of the leaves below it. One thing that struck me was if the buds withhold the water for nutrients, what happens in the winter when it freezes? I would think that would damage the bud and whatever it may be doing.
sketch for a brand using their concept. the sketch was not accepted because it was too 'girly' shame. hopefully it will be used for something else.
This piece would be made from a square or cube gemstone bead wrapped with wire covered with czech glass beads in a complementary color. Hillary has some great corner drilled dark brown jasper cubes that would make a very elegant but funky necklace if combined with gold, copper or shiny brown beads. However a flat square/diamond in a more pastel color with pastel czech glass would work well for making jewelry with a softer but still elegant and unique look.

This special sketch session took place at CLARA in Midtown. A former elementary school, the local performing arts collaborative provided us a great subject to gather details of on a drizzly day.
We never want our greatest fear to come true. I've not been able to sketch any of my fears because I had not image ot represent them. I've been sitting watching the reality of one of my fears. You will be able to read about it in my blog. (in the next day or two)
This is a drawing done by 4 people (including me). Each person takes turns to draw during one live jazz song, and when the song ends, you have to pass it to the next person. And keeps going and going until the sketch ends.
This was the first time doing with 4 people.
It's fun and inspiring.
