More photoshop painting.... in a Phil Hale style.

Trying tighter rendering technics...... still a lot to learn.

My first sketch across the fold! I would never have attempted a building this complicated before taking the Sketching Now Buildings course.

I was trying not to go in too dark - and to make sure I left lots of light. It's tricky to find shadows on a cloudy day. And I think I left it a bit too light - so it looks washed out.

This is a sketch I drew from a photo I took at last weekend's local car show. Drawn with a Schneider Xpress pen and colored with markers & colored pencils.

Fountain pen inks on paper.

Inks: Diamine Sepia, Saddle Brown, Gray.

Pens: a couple of Jinhao's and a Platinum Preppy XF

Paper: Daler-Rowney sketch pad 50 lb 9x12".

sketches for a project I am doing

Here's an example of ink and watercolor wash.

We don't get snow or freezing weather that often. So when we got both this week, we put birdseed out for the wildlife and water. These junkos kept a wary eye on me while I sketched them, looking through the patio French doors. As soon as I opened the door they flew off, only to return once I was back inside.

Evening sketch : again a view from the tiny backyard of Chic et Bohème. They did some spring cleaning, and put three tables. They left one wall standing in the vacuum, like a little partition with an old window still there. I enjoyed a tea while drawing.

Watercolor sketch

A late post of my sketch of the Wine and Dine Festival 2018 Thanks to Lousia for organizing, we spent a nice afternoon sketching till dusk.

a small idea, don't know if I'm going to work it out more

Small pen and ink sketch of an articulated mother of pearl fish sculpture.

This pen surprised me. It’s been sitting unused for months. I thought it would need a thorough cleaning, but when I tried it, it started right away.

Small 3x5 inch card homemade notebook, vintage Sheaffer School fountain pen, extra fine nib, with black Sheaffer ink.

View From Our Offices, West to the Rockies

I work in the Denver Tech Center. This is the view out the windows near my workspace. It's a nice view, though our area does get a bit hot in the summer afternoons due to the late afternoon sun. Our power was out for a couple of hours today, so at one point I decided to sketch the view.

Drawn with a .50mm Rapidoliner in a small Moleskine sketchbook. Drawing time about 20 minutes.

Pen, watercolor crayon, and photo of watercolor card drawing I made pasted back into sketchbook

Sketching at the Lincoln Center

There were so many charming beetles and so little time so I decided to do a collage sketch to capture as many beetles as possible in one single sketch!

Has been loooong time without doing some portrait sketches... well, this is a new one.

Austin Kleon and I worked on the sketch illustrations for this book, which was given out to attendees of the TEDMED conference, October 2010.

The concept of the book was to encourage the attendees to think outside of their normal ways and capture new ideas.

Sketching the Pantheon in #roma with twig and Chinese ink like @kiahkiean taught me 😅. Thinking of all urban sketchers having fun in Chicago!

Since my childhood, drawing has always been a passion, but when I discovered photography, I thought that the combination of these two passions would allow me to give free rein to my imagination.

In this series "The sketch of a life", I wanted to illustrate my life, like my sketches gave birth to each of his actions or by the intervention of someone I are close (for exemple in "sketch your mentor" with the intervention of my grandmother who taught me in the drawing), or events that have been important to me (like in "sketch the life" with the birth my daughter "Cataleya"), but also with something a little more humorous (in "Catch & Sketch" for example with the intervention of my friend Cal Redback, or in "sketch and fight" with a battle of two artists with each his technique)

Sketching, rough sketch on elephant

Evening sketch : the streets are bathed with rain. I go straight back to my nest and my gaze wanders on the two top shelves that cover a wall from bottom to top. Very broad on one side, ending in a triangle on the back wall of the large niche area of the living room (designed by me to catch up with a wall going askew, and build by my man).
