I’ve been trying different surfaces to see if they can mimic Rocketbook pages and erase Pilot Frixion inks completely by wiping with a wet cloth or tissue. So far I’ve found that dry erase index cards, overhead transparencies, Dura-Lar film, and (as in this case) Epson Photo paper all work.
Frixion pen and highlighter sketch on Epson 3.5x5 inch glossy photo paper. Scanned on Epson flatbed scanner. Edited in Snapseed, SketchClub, and iColorama on an iPad.
Last Saturday, a small tour around the new City Hall of Montpellier. China Ink and bucket, just for the pleasure of dipping .... Big sketch book 25 / 50 cm.
Samedi dernier, petite excursion autour de la nouvelle Mairie de Montpellier. Plume et encre de chine en godet, juste pour le plaisir d'y tremper la plume.... Sur grand carnet 25 sur 50 cm.
My second attempt at sketching books for the volume construction exercises. The first one was getting so full of wrong angles and lines that I decided to start over. It still looks wrong and the kids woke up before I had a chance to add the lettering.
I'm surprised at how hard it is to get the angles right. Some angles I drew as obtuse only to realize they were acute and had to be redrawn.
I'll attempt again tonight. Not sure if I should simplify and sketch only two books or add extra books/objects to create more complex negative shapes as during last week exercises I found it easier to sketch accurately while concentrating on the negative shapes.
A sketch i did at school on some notebook paper. I love drawing hands and for the first time in a while, i added shading. Its good practice that definitely need. I liked the idea as well. Not so sure about the smoke. Had to play around with it a little but the end result was satisfying.

Quick sketch from the VanDerPoel book, if you can still find an ediiton. The challenge was no corrections, and all construction marks are in the final.
J'ai demandé à la Présidente du bureau de vote si je pouvais faire un croquis... elle m'a accordé 5-10 minutes pas plus. Mise en couleur de retour à la maison.
I asked the President of the polling station if I could do a sketch ... she gave me 5-10 minutes no more. Colored back at home.
This is a sketch of my sons name. I find that when I'm trying to develop my style it sometimes really good to do other words as it helps to break out of a rut that you can often get into with youur own.
I want to start adding more sharp edges and straight lines to my usual flowing, swingy letters, i feel it gives it a different dynamic and some more strength.
I like how these letters sit and balance together, I think I might paint a few Jack pieces for the little guy, maybe he can help me fill :)
