My sketchbooks front cover, the back covers not all brilliant to show.
Hence why it's the back cover. :)
I don't love this one as much as my 2012 Sketchbook Project, but I'm happy that it allowed me to experiment with new ideas.
Retro Rockets ...
Top Left - centipede train - runnin' all day - can't get on, can't get off - centipede train take your centipedes away (obscure song reference ... sorry)
Top Right - One man total body robo armour suit go! I am pretty sure the top of the helmet lowers to seal with the lower helmet in case of ... saay ...nuclear blasts and the like.
I like the little dings in the round feet.
Lower Right - Stopping to walk the dog on Pluto (classic spaceship - classic gag)
Lower Left - Are there sharks on Venus? Dude, your in an adventure story, in a spaceship, on freakin' Venus ... sharks are going to be the least of your problems ... and to fairly answer your question ... yes. Yes, there are.
I love these puggy little rockets. i just love them. If I were a little bit weirder and a whole lot richer, I would totally build one in the back yard.
OK - forget the weirder part ... I just need some buckets of cash and I am good to go.
I decided to collect all of the sketches and concepts I have been spilling onto the page ... the result being .

Tutor's comments:
These sketchbooks are refreshing to see. They have depth and interest, which is a great reflection on your creative ability and and curiosity. This kind of design development is essential in creating unique and innovative solutions for your client. Amazing work.
Self portraits created by applying charcoal to several layers of torn paper, replicating Alison Lambert's style. A3 sketchbook.
I am going away next week and really miss having all my different sketchbooks and papers at home, so I decided to make a sketchbook for my travels with all my favourite papers inside. Watercolour papers of various finishes and weights, bristol board, marker paper, normal everyday bits of white stuff and some odd velum types and a few odd things thrown in for good measure. All stitched together and then a hardback cover for sturdiness. I had this old necklace lying around made with green waxed thread so I used that for a fastening. Loads of fun really.
