Simulation day at #CityCollegeFTL! We conducted a scenario involving a mass casualty situation with five victims, in which students from several programs participated. The results were outstanding! The medical assisting students came to the aide of one victim and called the EMS team to take over. The most severe patient was taken to the operating room for surgery, with the anesthesia and surgical technology students. Amazing work was done by our students.

Epidural Anaesthesia simulation model. ESA prize 2016. The complex skills involved with administering epidurals, such as locating optimal insertion point and needle angle, can only be learned by practice. However it can be dangerous for novice anaesthetists to practice their first epidural procedure on real patients. This simulator provides a training scenario whereby novice anaesthetists can practice needle insertions and visualise bony structures.

A story filed on the media board shows how good reporting and savvy comments could result in additional political capital points. The Congressional Simulation Exercise on April 4 was designed to give about 150 West Point cadets in the SS202 and SS252 (American Politics) courses a hands-on, real-world simulation of government in action. Participants absorbed the role of legislators, journalist, lobbyists and presidential advisers in a daylong capstone exercise to see who can best use political capital to create the best outcome for their group. #NSLCHEAL students visited the University of Texas McGovern Medical School's simulation lab today to learn how to perform ultrasounds, draw blood, intubate a person, and how to do a lumbar puncture.

Using two of the tools, Smudge and Clone, in iPad app ArtStudio, here's my first attempt to somewhat accurately transform a photo into what resembles an oil painting. I find the process to be intriguing and frustrating. Intriguing as a shortcut for someone who knows nearly nothing about painting with real oil paint. Frustrating because of the big limitations of my skills and of the app's capabilities. But I want to try it a few times. This kind of painting simulation is not at all a one shot algorithm that many photo editors and other apps have. This is a slow one stroke at a time process somewhat like real painting in that it's a repetition of matching colors and lines, or purposely choosing different colors and lines from the same areas in the photo one is working directly on a copy of to transform or translate it. I can see areas that could use improvement and I could probably do it, but at this point I've run out of energy here and think this is not too terrible for a first attempt.

Here's the photo I tried to copy in a painterly way with the ArtStudio iPad app:

Using sophisticated scientific simulation technologies, we attempt to prove that there was no way an airplane could topple a large skyscraper unless said plane was equipped with a tissue (which creates enough drag/weight to cause it to fly easily).

I'm using the latest version of the add-on "shuttle fleet" for Orbiter to simulate the upcoming STS-118 shuttle mission. This is a view of the Endeavor docked at the ISS, and if you look closely, you can see an astronaut on the end of the station's robot arm.

In this Wednesday #SHRMTalent session, attendees were able to experience a day in the life of a job candidate recently released from incarceration, and gain a new perspective of this talent pool. The re-entry simulation required them to work through the real challenges that confront 650,000 Americans who are released from incarceration every year as they attempt to return to society and rebuild their lives. The Faculty of Natural Sciences of the University of Salzburg and the Department of Statistics of the Alpen Adria University of Klagenfurt organized the conference in collaboration with the "Methodenzentrum Versuchsplanung" of the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna (BOKU), the Department of Statistical Modelling of Saint Petersburg State University and INFORMS Simulation Society (USA).

This international conference is devoted to statistical techniques in stochastic simulation, data collection and design and analysis of scientific experiments and studies representing broad areas of interest.

The 1st- 6th Workshops took place in St. Petersburg (Russia) in 1994, 1996, 1998, 2001, 2005 and 2009. The Seventh International Workshop on Simulation took place in Rimini in May 2013, the Eighth Workshop took place in Vienna in September 2015, and the Ninth one in Barcelona in June 25-29 2018.
