This pattern offers several different pieces to sew. The Simple to make style of the sheath skirt has a back, kick pleat. The top has short kimono sleeves. Version 1 has an open front neckline with collar and pockets at each side of the center front. Version 2 top is in contrast to skirt with the collar and front facing the same as the skirt fabric. Version 3 has a high neckline, button trim at the center front and braid trim. This is a great pattern!

Junior Misses' and Misses' Skirt, Halter, Shorts and Short Jacket
The halter has a V shaped neckline. A stitched pleat at neck gives bustline fullness. The full skirt, Views 1 and 2, has double inverted pleats at front, back, and side waistline. The brief jacket is faced and features wide contrasting cuffs. Trim shorts, View 3, have patch pockets and a zipper closing at back.

Simplicity 2891..my 2nd top from this pattern & 3rd top made for my trip to Japan. I find it ironic that I will be wearing this outfit with fabric from Japan.
I made my normal broadback adjustment & enlarged the armhole. I originally had sleeves in it, but the fabric actually made it hot (as we have had hot weather lately - similar to Japan), so I decided to remove the sleeves.
The dress has a fitted bodice with lowered round neckline and a gathered full overskirt and underskirt. It has a back zipper clsoing. The lower edge of the overskirt is scalloped. The underskirt in view's 2 & 3 contrast the overskirt and bodice. View 1 & 2 have short, set-in sleeves. view 3 is sleeveless. Tie belt is featured for view's 2 & 3.

This wonderful pattern is for a great 4-season cardigan/jacket suit that I know Jackie O would have worn! The styling is just as classic today as it was in 1962!
The lined jacket has a round neckline, set-in sleeves, flap trim and front button closing with either 3/4 length sleeves or short sleeves. The slim skirt has a side zipper and a back kick pleat.

'Simplicity'
Shortly after the War Holland Birkett, of the 750 Motor Club, proposed a
low cost racing format based on road equipped Austin Sevens. Jack
French took up the challenge and over a period of five weeks of evenings and weekends Simplicity was built.
The car was built from readily available parts: short chassis, 3 piece rear axle and mildly tuned engine. To obtain greater overall performance the chassis was considerably lightened by drilling in excess of 250 holes ranging in size from 1/4" to 3/4". Boxing of the chassis was achieved by
lattice bracing. Also drilled were the front axle, rear axle tubes, brake
and clutch pedals and handbrake. With the addition of a very light body
the chassis and body weight was 89 lbs. Flattened springs were employed both to the front and rear. The original front axle was an IFS
Unit, but this not being approved by the VSCC it was replaced at a later
date.
The first race meeting was at Ibsley on April 18th 1953 when Steady
Barker won in Simplicity. Over the rest of the season it was driven by
nine different drivers and gained two firsts and two seconds - 7 of the
drivers having no previous experience of racing. Not just built as a track
car, Simplicity would arrive at every event under its own steam, carrying
all the tools and spares that it might need.
6 years later, Simplicity was still able to prove its competitiveness when
in 1959, Jack French set a Vintage Class record at the VSCC Prescott Hill
Climb of 51.95 seconds, a record which stood until 1966.
Very few changes have been made to the original concept of the car and
it is still predominantly as it was built by Jack.
Owners of Simplicity following Jack French being Martin Eyre, Barry
Clark and current owner, Graham Beckett since 2014.
Simplicity is being used in sprints and hill climbs with the VSCC and in
the Bert Hadley Championship with the Pre War Austin Seven Club and
has performed in the Centenary Hillclimb at Prescott prior to being put on display here.

Brightening up my monochromatic wardrobe!
Pattern: Simplicity 3631, View B
Fabric: Faux Suede
Notions: Three Dritz Half Ball Cover Buttons (1 1/2"); lining fabric for seam binding; 4" chain
Description: Jacket has oversized covered button fastenings, cropped cape-like raglan sleeves, and belt.
I cut jacket in a size 16, using a faux suede. This pattern is very easy, even a beginner could have smooth sewing on this. I didn't like the reversed pleats that the instructions suggested, so I made the pleats the "normal" way and topstitched them on the right side. I'm so accustomed to lining my jackets and since a lining was not required for this one, I used a Hong Kong finish for the seams. I found lining fabric in a similar color to the fashion fabric and cut 1" strips on the bias. I sewed these to my seam allowances by stitching 1/4" from the edge, trimmed to a scant 1/8", folded the bias strip over and ditch stitched on the right side. I also decided to go with bound buttonholes. I ran across a fantastic tutorial on the Sew-4-Fun blog... one of the easiest I've seen. I'll be using it for welt pockets also. And for a finishing touch, I added a hang chain to the back. I sewed this in right underneath the back facing. While snoop shopping, I noticed these were prevalent on high-end RTW jackets.
Overall, I'm very pleased with the outcome of this jacket. I feel that I took a simple pattern and transformed it into a designer looking garment.
