this season, we see the word joy everywhere but holiday joy is a hard thing to force to happen. i know in my own life the word joy sometimes seemed like a mean command when times seemed grim.
i much prefer simple joy, the kind that passes through every day, available to all of us. it might come from the perfect hot drink, an unexpected call from someone I've been missing, a friendly checkout clerk at a gas station, the feeling of sunshine on my face after it's been cloudy for days or enjoying a quick laugh over lunch.
it can be the happiness in giving a dog a bone.
i love how the simple is always good enough for dogs. they get excited without reservation. mercy barks while cookie runs in a circle when we announce that it's dog bone time.
in this photo, mercy looks eagerly on for her treat while cookie eats first. (don't worry, mercy got a goodie too)

Wandering through the woods playing with an old lens (Nikon 70-300mm 1:4-5.6). Thought this wild grapevine squiggly looked cool, then realized the lens made some crazy-bokeh patterns from the branches in the background. Yay, spring!
