Bigger and simpler than ever before – those are among the promised virtues of the Horizon 2020 programme for research and innovation that the European Commission proposed formally last November.
Now comes the hard part: Winning acceptance for the plan from the Council and Parliament. This is a political process that will take most of the next two years; but already lines are being drawn in the sand.
The Science|Business Horizon 2020 Policy Bridge took place in Brussels on 27 March 2012.

Taken with my first camera, the point and shoot Canon A430. I was trying out Photoshop at that time, so the pictures from 2007 are purely experimental.
I loved Debby Hughes card from class today, so I cased it almost exactly!! My dies were Hero Arts and Memory Box instead of SSS. I also used My Minds Eye paper and dots. The hardest part was the splatter!! My white splatter wouldn't show up, and the black seemed to go everywhere! But, I am happy with the final results and know this will be a technique I will use again!
I carved this out to make a stamp that said, "simple."
I was in a point in my life where I wanted simplicity. Researching buddhism, minimalizing my belongings, trying to simplify my emotions, simplify my artwork. I experimented with concepts and theories in my research sketchbook. Breaking down images to the bare minimum, until you can barely recognize them anymore, but you still know what the image is supposed to be? Or how about getting a message across with just symbols and shapes, in black and white? Trying not to use color, trying to be able to express without color. Making people take a step back, make things simple, things can be less complex. People are always making things more difficult than they need to.
I wanted to take this "simple." image and put it on billboards starting in this area, and then eventually it would go on billboards all around the nation, maybe even internationally. Just the "simple." in black, in the middle, fairly small compared to the rest of the billboard, and the rest would just be white. Focusing right on "simple." Maybe changing every 5 seconds or whatever feasable time, to have "com" pop up after the "simple." Create a website built on a simple philosophy for life. Things you can do to live a simpler, yet still meaningful (if not more) life.
