Harthill, South Yorkshire
At the junction of Thorpe Road and Manor Road on the outskirts of Harthill stands this old signpost, showing Harthill as it then was as part of Kiveton Park Rural District Council. The district survived until 1974 when it was abolished by the Local Government Act 1972, becoming part of the Metropolitan Borough of Rotherham in South Yorkshire.

Fingerpost made by Maldon Iron Works dating from 1920s or 1930s. The arm towards High Laver is a replacement. NGR: TL533069.

This post is in good order and was made by Stanton Ironworks. It displays several features of a Stanton post such as rounded ends to arms, the ring mouldings on the pillar and the narrow annulus finial. NGR: TL 532179

Ecclesall Woods are situated in the south west of Sheffield, and cover 140 hectares (i.e. around 350 acres). They are the largest semi-natural woodland in South Yorkshire. The woods are an extremely popular visitor destination and are particularly valued for their wildlife, historic and archaeological features.
This signpost is in Bluff, marking the southernmost point of New Zealand. Although as it happens, Bluff isn't the southernmost point of New Zealand at all; that's Slope Point, which is on private land, and therefore the accolade was given to Bluff instead. And then of course there's Stewart Island . . . but that's another story . . .
