This establishing shot was taken in one of the walkways of Pike Place to capture the ambiance. Because it was rather dark, I set the shutter speed to 1/800 and the ISO to 3200. I composed the photo to have a vanishing point in the lower left-hand corner with the light bulbs creating leading lines along the edge of the ceiling. The neon signs also create a great depth as they grow smaller the deeper they are in the market.
In Photoshop, I cropped the photo in an attempt to apply the golden ratio here. I also found that lowering the exposure made the neon lights more punchy and simultaneously pulled back the color in the surrounding areas.

This week: Spotting St. Stephen's Cathedral in Vienna would be easy, as its 136m high south tower is a dominant element of Vienna's skyline. Sometimes it can be covert, sometimes the line of sight is obvious.
Exploring the different views is an exercise of strolling along downtown Vienna, discovering lines of sight from unexpected locations.
The album can be found here: 2021 | 52 projects.

Sitting at the cafe next to Pont du Gard, watching the tourist and locals exploring this lovely site.
Autumn.. the sight of golden leaves against the clear blue skies with Pont du Gard in the backdrop... life's indeed great!

For our homework we have to do as many pictures as we can using the sight measuring technique we learnt. This is my first effort in chalk.
