An inviting sight on a very dull December day is 'The Builders Arms' pub in Addiscombe. This 19th century built hostelry is one which we used to visit fairly regularly. Have only been there a couple of times this year though, but fully intend to frequent this comfortable and friendly pub more often in the future. The pub has a real fire and serves a great pint of London Pride.
Sad sight of someone losing their home today in Cottonwood, AZ. I'm about 5 miles as the crow flies from town and the smoke was solid black when I first noticed it.
I'm not sure
What I'm looking for anymore
I just know
That I'm harder to console
I don't see who I'm trying to be
Instead of me
But the key
Is a question of control

3/5/19 - I came across a card of photos from our Okeefenokee Swamp - Winter Break Feb 2018 camping trip... (last year) wow, time flies. Here's to wishing it were that warm right now. As I upload these photos it is 10 degrees outside, -3 with windchill.
Her hair has only been washed & conditioned & combed. You can easily comb it back into the original style!
This day started off rainy but got better in the afternoon. I was in the walking mood so I started at Trafalgar Square to the north side of the Thames, crossed over and went up to Southwerk. London is such a great city to wander aimlessly around and I never get tired of it. I took these photos at the end of April 2022.
A pair of M2s brings up the rear of a westbound deadhead move. With more M8s being delivered each day, the M2s are slowly becoming a rare sight on the New Haven line.
The saddest sight I have ever witnessed in half a century of living in London.
The blackened 24 story coffin that is now Grenfell house.
No tenuous link to the tower should change how saddened & angry anyone would be about the events here, but from 1995-2012, I played 5 aside football, twice a week on the pitches at the foot of Grenfell Tower and when ever we were short of players, there would always be a willing resident of the tower who would fill the gap.
Then as now the area was a united nations of football with Kosova, Portugal,Ecuador,Chile,Spain,Gambia,Albania, Somilia & many other counties represented on the pitch, many of whom came down from the tower to play.
In October 2012 the pitches were closed & North Kensington Academy was built on the site.
North Kensington(or Notting Dale as many still call it) has long since been a victim of bad planning, the area was savaged when the westway was punched thru it in the early 70s and the lungs of young & old were pumped full of fumes, but i the never envisaged this kind of shortsightedness would lead so directly to the end of so many lives.
R.I.P. all the victims of this non accident.
Ivatt 2MT 41307 - with 41283 out of sight, behind - crossing the GWR tracks at Highbridge (West) on January 2nd, 1966, with the R.C.T.S. 'Somerset & Dorset Rail Tour'.
The S & D was supposed to have closed the previous day, but due to 'problems' with the replacement bus service, closure was postponed until March.
41307 was withdrawn in March 1966, and scrapped in July. Four examples have been preserved..
Today, the Highbridge S & D platforms and track have gone, and the platform site (behind the camera) is partially covered by houses. The GWR portion of the station is still in use..
Restored and cropped from an under-exposed unfocussed grainy original..

Tiger sighting in Ranthambore National Park, India. It was raining heavily in the Jungle and suddenly out of the blue, there comes a tigress. A two year old wild cat.
There is a radio collar on it's neck. Park official have put radio collars in the necks of all the tigers in order to ensure better moitoring of these wild cats.
Sort of like a pack of matches, this flaps over and was given away to consumers.
On the back is an advertisement for Edgar Tobin Aerial Surveys of San Antonio, TX.
I have a couple others that advertise for opticians, which seems like a better match.
Panthers reported via website as of June 2014
The public has reported hundreds of sightings of Florida panthers to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission since the Panther Sightings website launched. The website allows people can record when and where they saw a panther or its tracks.
I went to North West Island (southern tip of the Great Barrier Reef, 6 hrs of the coast from Gladstone QLD) for two weeks, with the UNSW Underwater Club ..
Two weeks of serenity, sun, relaxation, partying and ... .. diving!! .. One of the best things I have had in my entire life!
We landed on the island at night time (high tide, or else the barge would not be able to drop us and our luggage off at the island) .. We dropped all luggage on a huge pile and slept on the beach that night .. When I woke up, I was treated to this sight as my very first impression of the island ..
