Burmese marionette theater, known as Yok thé, is popular throughout Myanmar. A puppeteer controls a single marionette with 18 strings for male characters or 19 strings for female characters. I took this shot in a woodworking workshop in Mandalay, the capital of the Mandalay Region, Myanmar.

Its now been over three and a half years since this 'Cyclops' has been viewed on the mainline. I believe it may have been used for shunting after initially being stored in March 2019 but hasnt worked at all now for quite some time.

Still named 'Keith Hellar' after DB Schenker's former Chief Exec from Canada and wearing its large logo maple leaf the Class 67 awaits an uncertain fate along with 92037 on its left and 90040 behind, both also now stored

I found these two HY's together with other ones and a DS on a private yard. The garage shed at this spot belonged to some older people who are (were?) specialized repairing HY. Inside the shed there was also a 1950s TA Six.

Dungeness is an interesting place. Walking along on the beach, you come across unused lobster pots, abandoned beach huts and even a few rusted out jcbs all randomly scattered about the place. Here a lone fishing boat sat on the shingle discarded by the sea just beyond.

With S12 301 back on the property at the Penn Warner Industrial Park, SLRS 102 was not needed on this day. This unit had been the standard power on this operation for many years.

During a downturn in traffic across most railroads, UP was not spared. Here was a lineup of one of the deadlines at Butler Yard back in 2013.

While shooting a youth football game l was scanning the sidelines between plays and saw the eye recognition feature of my Sony a6100 camera kick in and l shot.

West Chester has some real gems sitting around town; that GP38 looks fantastic, as do the RS18 and C424. I need to get back here and get those suckers in action.

My main photography squeeze has been sidelined for a while with recovery from minor surgery, which means neither one of us has had a chance to get out very much with camera in hand. For now, I'll have to post from my archives. This one is from 2011 and (to me at least) still evokes pleasant memories of warm evening breezes while watching an August sunset.

Another view of Rhyl Arriva Depot during the coronavirus pandemic. Several vehicles remain temporarily sidelined due to frequencies in Wales being cut for all but essential travel with the use of face coverings recommended.

While Tom and I were on vacation in Oregon earlier this year, we stumbled upon this pond. Since our trip was mainly for him to fly his remote control gliders, he thought that it might be a nice diversion for me if we checked this little spot out. To my surprise there were lots of things there to see and attempt to photograph. There were beavers and a solo mink, raptors flying overhead and perched in the trees, and lots of migrating smaller birds to keep me entertained. Then this trio of American white pelicans flew in and joined the party. They swam around for a bit and then decided to hop up on a nearby log and take a break, as they huddled together, giving nice reflections on the still water below. Having been around primarily brown pelicans when I lived in FL, I still get thrilled when I encounter white pelicans. :-)

Yep, you never knew where a small, off the track, dirt road will bring you and what you'll find. I also never expected to spend a few "me" hours on "his" trip, so it was an all around pleasant surprise. Note: I could have used less mosquitos, though. LOL.

Happy Friday! Headed to the zoo this morning with Tom and Elliette, my granddaughter. Should be fun!

Amstelveen - Cobra Museum.

Exposition: Je est un autre.

The artist couple Sonja Ferlov (Denmark) and Ernest Mancoba (South Africa) were involved in the creation of the Cobra movement in Denmark, albeit on the sidelines. Their interracial relationship was unique at the time and their close relationship meant that while they indisputably maintained individual artistic practices, the work of one influenced the work of the other.

The last two former CMGN U23Bs are photographed sidelined at Wenona Yard in Bay City, MI. Behind the 8903 is HESR 1471, a former NKP/NW/DME GP9. All locomotives have since been scrapped.

I came across this train in a remote siding in the North of England, quite by accident. Having been a train spotter as a young boy ( but not anymore-honest!) I checked my book of train numbers and I was surprised to see I had first seen this train 45 years ago!

For the past few months, three NJ Transit Comet V cab cars have been sitting on an M&E siding in Morristown, NJ, waiting to be picked up and put back into service after being released from PTC installs.

With Optare Solos transferring from Chester depot, has Rhyl's last active MPD now been sidelined? Here it is pictured in The Boulevard operating Town Service 83A. Today 922 is parked in the depot alongside 914 and 920, with 921 inside the workshops, and may well be stored for the immediate future, or used as a back-up vehicle.
