we sat on a bench and once enjoyed the view of the side facing away from the panorama of the old town. Looked fantastic in color, but I think in b/w it fits better in my little series today.
Wir saßen auf einer Bank und genossen einmal den Blick auf die vom Panorama der Altstadt abgewandte Seite. Sah in Farbe fantastisch aus, aber ich denke, in s / w passt es heute besser in meine kleine Serie.

This Side-striped Jackal had no problem driving the vultures off a kill. Here it is with what I think are feathers in its mouth, a good sign for the future to keep a distance. The Jackal ate his fill and gave us a few spirited leaps at the vultures. This was the first Side-striped Jackal I had ever seen and are said to live more in woodlands than Black-backed or Golden. (Its scientific name and evolutionary path seem to be still under discussion but in most places I saw it listed as Canis adustus.) (Sony a1M2, 400mm lens, f/5, 1/2500 second, ISO 640)
The Short Line traverses the short stretch of CSL trackage between the Illinois International Port and its yard at 95th Street with mill gondolas that it will take east towards Indiana Harbor.
This trackage historically led into a Youngstown Sheet and Tube mill located on the east bank of the Calumet River originally founded by Iroquois Steel, the original owner of the CSL. In the early 1950s, the mill had three blast furnaces and seventy coke ovens, one of the smaller integrated steel mills on Chicago's southeast side. The mill was shut down by the end of the 1960s and converted into what is now the Illinois International Port (Iroquois Landing)
These 2 cuties were playing and chasing each other around having the time of their lives. I managed to get this cheeky shot of them as they stopped momentarily while we walked past with our 3 doggies. Yes we have acquired another one! 😉 I hope you are having a good day just like these 2 😁
Some magnificent sidelight after climbing Lingmoor Fell looking towards Side Pike and the Langdales. I've driven past a few times and never walked up it. On my birthday I decided to change that, left my wife in the cafe for the afternoon LOL.
