Side blades. Better than side b**b?
Photo session with shiny blades. Sometimes you're opening inventory and things click together and lead to this. I was also playing with the Sky environment settings a lot.
An NS yard job, DD03, rests shortly after getting head room at WABIC in Decatur, Illinois while CSX Q593 does some switching in their own yard while the local units sleep off to the side.
LMS 4-6-0 5XP Jubilee 5690 'Leander' heads though the countryside between Eldroth and Giggleswick on 10-8-82.
Whilst the side is not lit I was pleased with the outcome. Summer can pose its own problems when it comes to steam photography, harsher lighting and no certainty of smoke. I have posted this previously I believe but have uploaded this as an improved version.
Ingleborough can be seen in the distance.

This Chestnut sided warbler posed for a few in the morning sun. He was photographed in early spring during migration.
we are blessed to have an area close to our residence that has been set aside as an Eco Park. One of its features is a pond with a walking trail around its perimeter and this shot were taken last week, just as the fall colour change was getting under way.
Some butterflies have a dark side including this Peacock which relies on its dark side to evade detection during hibernation. They usually spend the winter in dark places like woodpecker holes, and often hibernate communally. If something disturbs them during winter they collectively rub their wings together creating a sinister hissing noise, that would probably be sufficient to scare off a mouse or small bird. A second line of defence is a flash in the dark of their impressive eyespots, just visible here shining through. In the darkness of a woodpecker hole this might be enough to make a Wren think there was a dangerous owl lurking in there.
I photographed this Peacock backlit by the morning sun with its showy eyespots peeping through the dark underwing scales.

This is the place I spent most of my childhood. Memories from my past. Time has taken it's toll on this old paint job.

There were wild Asters growing all around this foraging spider. I angled myself so their lavender color filled the background.

Had to be careful on this side of the building site! The window on the left side of the shot had a woman sitting, staring out. Eek!
I was rather hoping to get to the top of the other structure (right), but it meant climbing a number of ladders, and I'm a right 'fraidy-cat.
I'm really pleased with the 'bronzed' effect that the photograph is left with, after toning down the yellows and oranges of the street lights.
Perhaps I'm blowing my own trumpet here, but, I always feel there's something missing with my photography; some 'element' that sets me back from the pros.
This... feels different. It has a presence and clarity to it.
