Detail of the windows of the original Mercer University structure in Penfield, GA. It opened here in 1833 but when the Civil War brought tough times, Mercer University relocated to Macon and transferred all Penfield holdings (with the exception of the Penfield Cemetery) to the Georgia Baptist Association which gave this chapel to the Penfield Baptist Church. The town of Penfield managed to survive by growing cotton.

I just saw the trailer for Shutter Island. If the movie's half as good as the book it will be incredible.

The angle I shot these window shutters from makes my symmetrophiliac heart sing! For 117 pictures in 2017 no. 54 Unusual Angle.

Pak Boon finished her course of TB meds months ago ... back in March i think it was ... but the restrictions on the public getting close to Pak Boon remained in force.

One of those restrictions was that, after watching Tang Mo, Luk and Thong Dee have their midmorning bathing session with the keepers in the barn, the shutters would come down, and we werent able to watch the group including Pak Boon have their turn in the barn. That of course has meant missing out on Tukta's and Pathi's sessions.

Finally, after a year and a half, the shutters are up, and i can see how Pathi and Tukta have developed.

Now i'm eagerly awaiting the removal of the temporary fence that's prevented the public getting close to the mud wallow :)

Having talked to some other regular visitors to the elephants, it turns out that we all regard this is as the Number One Bestest Spot for viewing the eles.

I saw a lot of shutter at the street left behind from development.

This was just an accidental shutter release when I was testing the commander mode for CLS. I used CLS for the first time in the swimsuit shoot I did, which will be up here later on.

This one's for the geeks!!

Enjoyed the shutters.

The contrast of white plantation shutters and chocolate brown column drapes with distinctive chef's hat valances adds just the right pop of color. www.ewbykimlyon.com

What kind of bird is this? Where does it come from? Is it native to Wisconsin or does it migrate from elsewhere? It seems mischievous because of its masked appearance….. After a couple of hours of searching, I believe this to be a Alectoris chukar , Order: Galliformes , family: Phasianidae. This bird was introduced into the United States from Pakistan to be a game bird. It lives in rocky terrain across the western United States. From the reading I have done, and the maps of where they are found, this seems to have traveled further East than what is believed. Similar species are the gray partridge, California quail and the Mountain qual. This large bird has orange-brown and slate- blue upper parts and breast, black and rufous barred white flanks and a white face with a sharp black line. The bill and legs are pink-red. It escapes danger by running. It feeds primarily on seeds. It has a direct flight with rapid deep wing beats. The sexes are similar; the female is slightly smaller in size and lacks the spur. It feeds on seeds and is known as a hardy bird and able to outrun a hunter quite easily. I am excited to know that I may have found a bird not known to migrate to this area and plan on sending my photo to Bong for their information. Please feel free to share any other organization that may benefit from my information.
