Typography project for Martha Lent's Illustrating course. We had to make a shoebox inspired by a pair of shoes we owned. The ones I used (not pictured... sorry) were blue striped espadrilles that had a nautical look about them. Opted for a vintage like WWII theme.

Yes, I recently broke down and bought the little man a pair of Batman shoes. They even light up when he stomps. But dang, it's hard to find simple, vegan-friendly little boys' shoes.
Southwest Louisiana Convention and Visitors Bureau held their annual Mardi Gras Shoebox Float Contest Saturday. The floats will be on display at Convention and Visitors Welcome Center through February 22.
2 8 inch mud cakes carved into a shoebox shape. One white mud and one dark chocolate mud cake, filled with gananche.
It doesn't look like a shoebox, does it? But it is a shoebox and I
think you can tell from cute design and bright, colorful palette that
this is a box for kids' shoes. I got this box when my family took our
little niece to a shoe shop. My little girl was only 2 years old and
she ran so fast and quite naughty. We let her try various pairs of
shoes. She kicked out those she didn't like and when she found her
favourite, she got up and ran out of the shop! Luckily, my sister was
quick enough to catch her before she was gone among all the crowd.
I especially like the printed wrap paper. It just says about the
attention to design.
I made this cake for a shoe crazy friend leaving to start a new job. The actual cake (the box) is chocolate sponge and everything else is handmade from sugarpaste (apart from the tissue paper!!) x

The forlorn bodyshell of Class 73/1, 73134 "Woking Homes 1885 - 1985" stands in its long-term resting place outside the Brush Traction works at Loughborough.
Having been used as a spares donor for the 73/9 rebuilds done at Brush, the future remains unclear for 73134 - with its fate being even more uncertain following the recent announcement that the Brush Traction works will close by the end of 2021.

I took these pictures several years ago with my first "lens camera", built by me and tuned with the help of friends, a teacher and a bit of luck, and of course, "Trial and error".
I think I have actual copies of these experiments, maybe in a hidden box @ my parent's home. Who knows... Let's celebrate "Photography Day" by remembering how important it was for me all the lessons I learnt from my Physics degree and the mystery of light.

Creo que dejé en algún lugar las copias originales en casa de mis padres. Capturé estas imágenes cuando estaba estudiando y construí mi primera cámara con lentes. Una caja de zapatos con lentes que aprendí a calibrar con la ayuda de amigos, un profesor, la buena fortuna y por claro! prueba y error.
Una buena memoria de mis días estudiando Física y las lecciones de la luz.
