This location opened in the 2000s and closed in 2020; it was originally a Texaco, which was built and opened in 1986.

The exterior murals of the Avalon Casino on Catalina Island were designed by John Beckman, who designed Grauman’s Chinese Theater in Hollywood.
The art deco murals depict underwater scenes of kelp forests and underwater flora and fauna.
Beckman wanted his exterior images to be executed in tile. However, he ran out of time, so they were painted instead.

Usually found among the mangroves and oyster beds. Up to 4" in size. Tends to be more of a bay shell. This is not usually a shell to be found along the beach unless you are near an area where oyster bars and mangroves are near.
We have very few of these shells. In fact I had to search high and low to find this one in amongst the many stashes of shells. Where is that King's Crown???
I think for those of you who live near sanibel, if you go around the corner of the lighthouse beach we would sometimes find some there.
A lovely white sea shell nestled in the beach sand .... on my dining room table! The shell is actually about 1 1/2 inches ... both sand and shell came from a 1990s visit to Cuba.

Often derided as one of London's ugliest buildings, but I like it.

Shell Spring, Sapphire Group, Biscuit Basin, far-northwestern Upper Geyser Basin, Yellowstone Hotspot, northwestern Wyoming, USA in August 2011.
The complex of irregular, pustulose geyserite knobs here somewhat resembles the interior of an articulated tridacnid bivalve shell.
The lines to the former ICI Wilton site and Shell Refinery diverge from the Goods lines to the east of Grangetown
