Barnacles are Crustacean animals in the class of invertebrates as crabs, prawns etc. The larvae are free swimming and go through several swimming stages until they eventually anchor to rock or other hard surfaces such as piers and boats. Barnacles then form protective plates which encases them and are then unable to move. They sweep plankton into the centre of their encasement when immersed at low tide. Often barnacles are above the waterline in lowtide and can endure high temperatures on the rock upon which they live.
Went to tampa these weekend and landed on some private island searching for shells ended up getting about a hundred including sanddollars which arent in these picture some of these shells are the size of my hand. I would say it was a good day:)

taken with my 18-50 and a 2x tele-converter, you get quite macro'esque results with this combination...
This image was one that was inspired by two photographers. The shell aspect was inspired by Edward Weston and the reflection was inspired by Florence Henri. I decided to combine their two techniques into one image due to the fact that I thought that they went well together and actually create a pretty strong image.
I used, like Weston, a chiaroscuro technique to allow shadow to hide a part of the shell. The rest of the shell stands out against the dark background due to the fact that the shell’s colour scheme is lighter. This contrast of colour allows the main focal point of the shell to be more noticeable and stand out more.
The black and white tones of the image also bring out the different textures involved. The shadows become more apparent, which makes the textures come out more and so draws attention to them. These textures make the image less boring to look at for the image, so it adds something extra.
The reflection aspects adds a sense of manipulation to the image and I think it works quite well since it allows the audience to see the bottom part of the shell that you wouldn’t see unless you turned it over. It also draws attention to the spiral effect that is going on inside the shell, which makes the image look quite cool. The reflection is also quite subtle since you can’t see the mirror, so unless you look closely, you might mistake it for one big shell instead of a reflection.
Shell beans are malformed and consist of an inner or outer part separately or together. One or both may be found, and in some instances they will be together. The outer section has a seashell shape. The inner section can be conical or cylindrical.

Shell Keeley Shoot…
I photographed the FABULOUS Shell Keeley recently. We met up and had tea at the Rococo Coffee House, in Liverpool. It was the first time I had met Shell, but we had been in touch via msgs on Facebook and such, so it didn’t really feel like our first meeting. I had wanted to photograph her because she simply looks divine, in her genuine vintage clothes PLUS she is the sweetest lady. So here we are, sat by the window in this rococo styled coffee shop, having a good old chin-wag, topics ranging from Vincent Price to Bette Davis, it wasn’t long before our cups were empty. So I set up my lights & we shot away.
We then packed up, Shell made a quick out-fit change (1930’s German red dress), and we were gone.
NEXT UP…
OUT DOOR SHOTS
We had a little wander about, taking pictures with just natural daylight. Stunning results with backlighting from the sun. Shell has the BEST eyes, so I took lots of close-up shots with an aperture of F/1.7 at 100 ISO, with my Pentax manual focus lens.
Really happy with the results, and you wouldn’t believe it was Shell’s first ever photo session. Beautiful pictures of a beautiful person, with the most impeccable manners. A true lady.

Shell Island is part of a peninsula it only becomes an island at high tide ,the road to it is a tidal causeway (the stones in the shot mark the edge of the road) ...here the tide is coming in submerging the road
