Went to tampa these weekend and landed on some private island searching for shells ended up getting about a hundred including sanddollars which arent in these picture some of these shells are the size of my hand. I would say it was a good day:)
4.6million shells, 70ft of winding underground passages leading to a rectangular chamber, 2000sqft of mosaic and one big mystery!
taken with my 18-50 and a 2x tele-converter, you get quite macro'esque results with this combination...

Photo taken on April 8,2008 around 5:45p.m. Shell Gas Station on Sepulveda and Venice in West Los Angeles. Southern California. This current station design replaced a more traditional smaller designed station that had a main building with island pumps sometime in the 1980s (approximately). The new building is totally self service with a small little booth. No automotive bays, etc.

Shell beans are malformed and consist of an inner or outer part separately or together. One or both may be found, and in some instances they will be together. The outer section has a seashell shape. The inner section can be conical or cylindrical.
A little owl, with a wooden ball for the body,, and shells and other embelishments, to add to the whole. She is stood on little ceramic tiles, which are in turn, stuck onto a foam sheet.
The eye-sockets are little periwinkles. These have glue put inside, which has a sequin and small steel washer added, to shine in the dark. Googly eyes represent life. The paint has a varnish applied.
Medium box made out of shells measures 7 inches wide x 3 inches high; as to what type of shells: the majority seem to be cockle shells and cancellaria.
