Suburbs of the North Shore each laid out their street grids more or less any way they chose, then the railway came through and cut things off at yet another angle, which makes for some pretty crazy turns in certain backstreets.

Panorama of Curiosity images (from part of the large 360° panorama I posted a while ago) showing Mount Sharp. The foreground is relatively unchanged but I removed the background and replaced it with a reasonable-looking color gradient (the the gradient indicating an early evening scene with the sun setting to the right, behind the rim of Gale Crater)- there were too many jagged edges due to the shape of the original panorama. I spotted this when actually parked at Newcastle Beach after a sunrise shoot.

I liked the acute angle of the leading edge of this building - I exaggerated this by leaving on my wide-angle lens and taking a couple of shots, including this one.

This is one of the new buildings that has been built on the former Royal Newcastle Hospital site.

ODC topic 'Little Triumphs'

I got a knife sharpener, hand held. at recent yard sale. And today I sharpened my knives. It's been many years. Its nice to be able to do it on my own again.

This one makes a pass through our yard almost every day to see if it can grab lunch at the feeders.

On April 29th I started my day at 2:45 am. I drove with three friends to a lek in Southern Alberta. We had to be in the blind by 5 am. It sure took a long time before there was enough light to take photos. We could hear the grouse. They were making many sounds and we could see their outlines in the dark. It was another great day. The last time I was out there was two years ago.

I was using a brand new camera so I had many photos to delete and of course far too many photos over all. Most photos were only cropped. I didn't adjust any colors. Some photos are not even cropped.

A male Sharp-tailed Grouse scratches its head with its foot after displaying in the lek, Arrowwood National Wildlife Refuge, Jamestown, North Dakota.

Edited Curiosity image showing the left-side of Mount Sharp. There were lots of dark specs which I removed in Photoshop. When I ran this image through the tonal contrast filter, the areas I edited showed up as dark blobs in the sky. I'll have to think of a different way to clean up these images...
